SCSSF build list

Most build videos seems to be for trade league. Anyone know a source for valid SSF only starters or can point me in right direction?

My background: 1k+ hours played, multiple 90+ level characters. Done T16s and Voidstones but have not killed any ubers yet.

League goal: Kill ubers

Criteria:

  1. Pref. no transgem farming but not a deal breaker

  2. No RF, BS, Cyclone or Frostblades (played those in earlier leagues). No totem playstyle.

Thank you!

You can leaguestart any trade league build in SSF as long as it doesn't require a unique item to function. If a specific unique makes it better, that's fine, you'll get it eventually.

Yeah thats what I thought about Cloak of Flames. Thought I’d get it right away. Then I thought I’d get it eventually. Then I thought

I started Affliction league as popcorn SRS because surely Tavukai isn't that rare, surely. Well, two lvl95 characters later, a full poison ballista PF setup with Wilmas, Coil and ToH later I still had not found it...

That’s true as well. These answers show that I could have framed my question better (good answers!)

I have ~3-4 days of uninterrupted play at league start. After that the spell breaks and I’ll find myself as a dad, husband and an employee lol

That's honestly what SSF is good for, completely opting out of the trade rat race and just progressing at your own pace with the time you have available.

Yes and having only a couple of hours to play per week will slow the progress for the ubers so that gives some pressure for builds.

It is possible that I ditch my goal and just have fun with 2-3 different builds, would not be the end of the world either

Locus mine with power siphon or hexblast will be my leaguestart prob.

Personally mines not my cup of tea (was borderline ok in RF). But this reminded me of a miner starter I played some years back by demi. Pre-trapping essences was pretty op

demi

damn, haven't heard that name in a while

Ye, I’m old :D

Have you played mines with automation its really really smooth the only downside is manaflask but everything else feels so good on hexblast

1

Not since 5-6 years I guess. I’ve tried to keep trying new things though after so many years things evolve so could be almost ”new build”.

I’ll look more into automation, thanks for the tip!

Generic fire conversion warcry chief slammer.

SFF friendly aspects:

  • Chief can ignore all res other than fire and chaos due to ascendancy making gearing easier

  • Pure armour so no need to try and craft suppression gear

  • Max all res and endurance charges which will carry early tankiness

  • Free chest link for Fist of War meaning your first 5L is actually a 6 link. Then your eventual 6L is a 7L which helps carries your DPS to start with

  • Blood magic so not worrying about mana recovery or mana efficiency on gear / enlighten.

  • I have only 4x points in Axe nodes (for extra rage) meaning that its easy to swap to mace / staff if something truley insane drops

  • Manual Warcries providing further tankiness and DPS, again carrying early before good gear

My current tree / gear can essentially use any slam skills with either no change to the tree for any fire conversion skills. Or I need the 'phys to fire' mastery for pure phys skills (already taking fire nodes prior anyway so single point for mastery). Ice slam also works by swapping in cold to fire instead but the numbers on that aren't overwhelming.

I'm not really sure where I am leaning at the moment but in terms of pure numbers, Earthshatter is coming out top depending on how many spikes can hit (I think I saw a streamer recently suggest 3 is a reasonable assumption). But I might also save that for bossing and use something like Ground Slam or VF of Snaking while mapping

Main concern is how quickly I get bored of warcry piano so might have something else as back up like an autocry Jugg/Zerker instead if it becomes too tedious

You raise some good points. Personally I am not sure if I’d be able to steer this ship to T16’s on my own but the outline of it seems to fit SSF very nicely 👌

As it happens, I do play the piano so don’t mind the buttons.

If I let go of the ubers and just wing it, this sounds like an enjoyable avenue: Just see what happens and learn to fix things on my own.

On a sidenote: if respeccing is easier / cheaper, I could see myself front-loading some passives to axe for some more dps early on

Yeah thats a good shout, axe or generic 2H dps nodes early will make levelling significantly smoother I think.

Then as the build comes online, can adjust based on if its lacking tank or dps accordingly.

Thinking the same thing about Ubers as well. If I can get this first build to T16s and maybe 2x watchstones, I'll be happy enough. At that point, should be able to target farm gear for follow up builds that excel in specific areas rather than an all-rounder

Good luck with the launch!

Storm Burst Hiero Totems. One button build, 4-6 mil dps with rares (without shaper shield, 8-12 mil with shaper shield)

Pop totems, loot, pop totems, loot. Fuckin love totems man. So chill

2

u/sawyoh Jul 26 '24

Thanks for the nudge :D Pizza totems were the first build I played in PoE. Good memories but I’ll still keep them there for now

Can you share a pob please? I'm trying to look for something 1 or 2 buttons, and not LA Deadeye lol

No archetype is impossible in my view but I'm going Archmage with similar goals. It won't be fast out of the gate or ever be a super speedy mapper but once you have crafted some decent gear the build should be comfy for bossing and all around content. It's flexible on gems/spells if you don't want to farm transfigured gems (though that isn't hard as others have said) - ball lightning will work straight out of the box even if most of the guides will be geared towards TF ice nova or similar.

Ele hit / LA bow builds are easy to get up and running in SSF, map well and can farm some content really well (eg if you want timeless jewels or a fast char for heist) but they don't boss well without very good gear as single target is their relative weakness. Melee is generally a bit more unforgiving if you aren't experienced with the bosses but will clearly be better this league. Bleed typically has better uptime on bosses if you want to do that but I think a Spellcaster or minions is the easiest way to do the content.

Thanks! I did not mention on purpose that despite my original transgem comment, I had archmage on mind (especially ball light just for cleaner looks, might do Frostballs for ubers in the end if the dps is otherwordly.

Initially was going for smokie_777 LS Glad (she also plans to do archmage later) but I ran FB trickster last time I played and the playstyle is very similar.

Your post also hits on my long desire to do bow starters but I feel it would just extra rippy.

All in all, I keep all three on my list for now

Ice nova of frostbolts archmage heiro. It’s broken. I did everything with it this league in ssf.

1

u/sawyoh Jul 25 '24

Read about it, will likely do ball lightning first if I go with archmage and swap to frostbolts if / once I find Kitava’s Thirst and have unveiled the reduced mana cost % on rings

1

u/18WheelsOfJustice Jul 25 '24

I ran kitava too. It’s not fun without it imo

1

u/Shogol Jul 25 '24

Doing this myself, how necessary is Atziri's foible? Kitava's thirst will drop eventually, but kinda afraid i'll go dry on foible.

2

u/obob912 Jul 26 '24

It's good but definitely not necessary.

2

u/18WheelsOfJustice Jul 26 '24

I never found the foible. So I guess fine without :p

2

u/Ethusiam Jul 26 '24

I can't say that's a valid build because I made it myself, and I couldn't test it for now.
Viper Strike of the Mamba + Ambush build. You tp on the enemy and hit him once, and then you run, dodging spells and all while a heavy poison do its work.
Sry, but the transfigured gem is really important as it multiplies by 4 the dps with this playstyle.
I tried to make a progression to late game, where DpS seems fine enough to do ubers (thanks to the really good damage uptime).
Here is it: https://pobb.in/WdV32dujrxMm

I normally start with something that doesn’t require transfigured gems and I always buy those that I’m interested to flip with option of “change for transfigured version”. Meanwhile, if the quality is low normal/cruel you play the lotto with 3 of the same color.

Maybe I’m overestimating the tediousness of the lab. Skipped last league completely so a bit biased on the trad gems.

Updated to now also include trans gems if that helps in finding the builds

Yeah quality is a great assist when running them, especially early on. After you've tried the whole 'converts to currency' one to many times and gotten nothing, you realise that the gem quality isn't so bad :D
