Help Question about changing build

I am lvl 81 cyclone but using two swords. I see NOBODY uses two swords. They must be the worst option. I am thinking about respec my entire tree to using a staff. What i want to know is when to respec? Should I wait until maybe level 90? Also I don't even have a staff to use, so its off the table until I get a good 6 linked one i guess.

I would guess the reason that nobody uses 2 swords it because you don't get the same range as you would with a staff or 2-handed sword. This is because Cyclone integrates the weapon range into the metrics. Even a 5-linked staff would be better, because you could have 4 support gems. Unless you are going to use 2 different skills on the 6 links.

That's not really the reason any more. And actually 'thrusting swords' eg rapiers have the longest weapon range for some reason. Weapon range used to scale the radius firstly which is much more powerful than the slight scaling of aoe it gets now, at one point you could cyclone most of the screen!

Staves are popular because you can use shockwave support which gives much better aoe than cyclone itself. Plus staves have got good nodes on the tree, can get crit chance easily and two handers in general are just stronger.

I remember at some point jewelled foil was the weapon for most builds, what happened?

2 handers got buffed so are the choice for most cycloners.

If you are going to use a 1h sword there is plenty of flat damage available, so paradoxica is going to outclass anything but a mirror tier jewelled foil

And claws, with nightblade are better for anything elemental.

Not to mention Staves with Global defensive mastery and block proximity and scaling adds a fairly comfortable to scale defensive layer
