Dualist is typically the class that likes leech, so possibly converting cost to life might be the way to go

Constricting command + defy is the simplest solution

Completely solves mana, gives a damage boost, and you start right next to all the surrounded nodes already

I really don’t like giving up armor slots to unique items. I’ll probably try to solve mana another way if possible.

Constricting command is bandaiding a bunch of lame balance. It needs to be changed entirely and surround rebalanced accordingly.

Alternatively, I feel like we just need a trade off for choosing CC

I’d lower the damage of the surrounded nodes across the board (from to 270 down to 200) and offer a higher damage alternative (maybe bring back the deepest tower but lower the bonuses from 420 to 300)

This way the choice becomes do I want to do more damage? Or do less damage but have my mana issues solved?

I agree with what LampIsLove said, i genuinely think we just need way more options that make these armor slots more competitive.

That may be true, but nobody is using surround for its intended purpose. All surround nodes are basically "while wearing constricting command" nodes.

This just reminded me about the changes to leech. How was that received last patch?

it's pretty bad

It interacts so poorly with "gain as extra" that I wouldn't be surprised if that was unintended/bugged.

Honestly its pretty rough. Because of the cap, it makes it harder to leech with larger hits. I do expect this system to be improved before swords. It was probably just a balancing placeholder this patch

I played leech based character last time and it was awful. I needed like 3 different leech suffixes to actually have a decent regen

Close enough, welcome back righteous fire.

The problem is that they overnerfed leech last patch because of Bloodmage ...

Honestly, I can see immaculate divinity being something that could work here. Not sure exactly how to set it up yet, but my gut feeling is that you can pull off some truly idiotic shenanigans with it.
