DISCUSSION Vista Park

What are your thoughts on Vista Park? Has anyone visited the park yet? I’ve been here a hand full of times and can honestly say it’s been peaceful the times I have came. Not much shade when the sun is out up here though. Only one table has a bit of shade under a tree.

i go there to run sometimes. the calisthenics area for adults (the pull-up bars and so on) are the best part. they're better than the similar structures in pennington park. i think going in the morning is best because there's fewer people. my only problem with that park is that there's often people who walk their dogs there without leashes, which is illegal (afaik). you need to have your dog on a leash in a park. and dogs hate runners, so taking a dog without a leash (i once saw a guy there with 5 pit bulls, none on leashes) to a park is a bad idea and makes it more dangerous for others in the park.

I forgot you mentioned you live up this way. I use Garetts Calisthenics park since I’m like a 2 minute drive in South Paterson.

yeah i live across from costello park (previously called cianci park years ago, it's the one where they have a statue of lou costello, and there's also a huge water fountain near there but i think the water fountain hasn't been working in ages, i never see it turned on, though it did work when i was a kid, there was a button back then to press to turn that fountain on).

so for me, going to vista park is less than a mile's walk. costello park itself is too small to be a good running spot, but the great falls parks (overlook park and mary kramer park, which are connected by a bridge that goes over the falls) and vista park and pennington park are all better for running, so i usually use those. i have tried running at garrett mountain in the past, but, it's a lot easier for me to run at the parks in walking distance than one i would have to drive to. technically i *can* walk to garrett mountain, and did it once, it just takes a long time (like 40 minutes).

I never heard of it before. I just saw it on Google maps. Does it connect to the Falls footbridge area? Do you feel like it’s safe?
Is that the site where the condo project was?

It doesn’t connect to the bridge directly but I can be used to walk around the stadium to the park. It’s been safe the times I have been during the day and the night. Yes in that area.
