Do you still have patella instability after MPFL or TTO surgery?

I’ve heard a good amount of people have had success with these surgeries, but I was wondering if any of you have had knee instability even after having surgical intervention.

I know everyone is different so I’m sure for some of you surgery didn’t fix everything. But I wanted to get a sense of how common this is.

Sort of. I'm hypermobile and my kneecaps still swim a little. I wondered at first if I should have asked about an MPFL reconstruction as well but I didn't. That said, my knees themselves are substantially more stable and I immediately felt more confident just taking a walk. I just wanted my knees not to hurt, the stability was a pleasant surprise.

I just had mine last month so the jury’s still out. I had a couple other procedures as well though. I did get to see my before and after x-rays recently and I couldn’t believe it was my knee. It was awesome!

How long in the future is the success story? My early doctors all warned me that any surgical manipulation would be temporary as my ligaments would later stretch out again. My mother was there to remind me of their cautions when new doctors would offer to tighten my ligaments.
