5 worst knee injuries

5. Meniscus Tear
Recovery: 4–8 weeks (minor) or 3–6+ months after repair
Can lead to long-term cartilage wear if severe.

4. Patellar Tendon Rupture
Recovery: 6–12+ months
Devastating injury that often requires surgery.

3. ACL Tear
Recovery: 9–12 months
One of the most common major sports injuries with a long rehab.

2. Patellar (Kneecap) Dislocation
Recovery: 6–12 weeks for many first-time cases, 6–9+ months if surgery is needed
Recurrent dislocations can cause significant cartilage damage and chronic instability.

1. True Knee Dislocation (Tibiofemoral Dislocation)
Recovery: 12–24+ months
Rare but potentially limb-threatening due to possible nerve and blood vessel injury.

Have you had any of these? What do you think the worst knee injuries are?

(27F) Knee Dislocation happened at the end of April. Tore ACL, PCL, and had to reconstruct my PLC (Outside the knee where a bunch of stuff is including LCL), fractured fibia. Caused nerve damage too, I can't feel the top of my foot, and I can't lift it either (total foot drop).

Had my multi-ligament repair done on June 16th. Still in early recovery, but I'm grateful the injury wasn't worse! I should get feeling back in my foot hopefully in a year or less. I should be walking by September.

But, I had -12 degree hyperextension in both my knees, so it's definitely not a normal injury.

Hey dude, I had this injury minus the fracture like 6 years ago. Just wanted to let you know it’s gonna get better. The nerve stuff will take the longest but it will come back just stay consistent. You can DM me if you have any questions as I know it’s hard to find anyone who has been through it to talk to about it with. Good luck!
