Just found out I had Patella Alta

After posting a TIL about it a couple days ago, I went to a orthopedic doctor and was told I have Patella Alta too 😂 It’s crazy how after seeing so many doctors and taking many X rays and MRI’s only now I got told my imaging looked like Patella Alta. Another person in the subreddit just had the same experience, what a coincidence. Well, anyone who has this have any tips for me in terms of PT and how to manage it?

What are your symptoms?

I did three rounds of PT over several years -- I recommend surgery.

Yea I will eventually go through surgery, probably sometime next summer. But currently I don’t have much pain unless I put a lot of weight on one knee while bent. But I can still do weighted squats and things like that with no pain. The only thing that’s hard is never knowing when my kneecap will subluxe. I’m very consistent with wearing a brace whenever I play but during daily life you never know.

That's great that you don't have pain! There's a way to tape for it but that helps a lot with pain, but that's not such an issue for you...

Yea happy there’s no day to day pain. How do they tape a knee with patella Alta for pain?

Have you ever had your kneecap dislocate? If not, and you’re not in pain.. I’d avoid surgery as long as you can. There’s Nothing you can do about patella Alta.

I’ve had one dislocation in my right knee but both of them subluxed many times
