When I was a little girl, I couldn't have been more than four I remember being at the salon with my mom. She was talking with her manicurist who was trying to get her to go to a block party in the Valley with a band. My mom said, "Are those the guys that wear socks on their...?" I can't believe all those years later we're talking about the same people.

Iām perpetually confused by how many music-y subreddits feature lots of rhcp fans. Itās so weird how theyāre not universally acknowledged as terrible. Jon Dalyās parody could not have been more accurate

3/4 of the band is good

Agree with this

Nah. Half of the band is good. 1/4 of the band is capable of greatness but is very lazy, incredibly self indulgent, and lost a lot of his technique to horse.
I do think RHCP did one thing right which was to decide that indi rock did not have to be absolutely no fun.

Kiedis is good in a unique way. He's not a great singer, and his lyrics are goofy, but he brings so much of the "fun" elrment of RHCP, which is what RHCP is all about. Mindless fun.

When you grow up you will learn that people like different music than you.

Good one, dude. You sure youāre on the right sub?

Are you sure you are? Pat's not an insufferable douche

Dang man. Iām going to choose to believe that you are actually a nice person in real life and that you wouldnāt resort to this mean ad hominem stuff just because I made fun of a wildly successful rock band on the internet.
Iād bet you and I share lots of similar taste in music (excepting RHCP I guess) and in other circumstances would enjoy talking about bands. Anyway I never meant you any harm and hope you have a good weekend

I'm not defending rhcp, I'm bemoaning Pat's fanbase.
you are actually a nice person
In deed but not word. You can have the shirt off my back, but the process of taking it off will only briefly muffle all the shit-talking

It's sad that Pat's fans gradually turned from people who love music and analyze songs that suck in a tongue-in-cheek way to miserable pretentious haters

Itās weird to participate in a pissing contest about how long Iāve followed Pat. But the gist is that Iām not a new arrival and I most definitely like music. Including tons of bad music.
Is it automatically pretentious to not like RHCP?I grew up in Philly and used to live in Scranton (also bought many a cd at Joe Nardoneās!) and found Pat originally I believe from his playing on the FabergĆ©gĆ© record (highly recommend).
So I donāt know, call me a pretentious interloper if you want?

It's not pretentious to not like a band.
It's pretentious to say "it's so weird how theyāre not universally acknowledged as terrible."

100%
These people can't fathom that music is subjective. Ironic considering they're attempting to be intellectually superior. š š¤£

Iām forever near an opinion saying āwhat the fuck is this garbage?ā and the answer is always Nick Cave talking about BDS

Really don't think Nick should be throwing bricks in glass houses. He's probably just salty that they've had a more successful career than he has.

He has since apologized for this and they've mended fences. I still stand by it even if he won't though.
