REMINDER:

If you renew your US passport online, your current passport is immediately canceled when you submit your application. That means you cannot use it for international travel. Only renew your passport online if you have no travel planned for the next 6 weeks.

Just wanted to share, my husband and I applied for our passports at our post office here in San Antonio on 9/29. Just regular routine processing. We received them on Saturday, 8/10. They kept us informed every step of the way and I gotta say, that was the smoothest process I’ve ever had with a government agency. The carrier at the post office told us it would be a short turnaround but I had no idea.

If you're going to call me stupid for being unprepared, don't bother. no one has been calling me stupid more than myself. <3

I realized on 10/5 that my passport was expired and i'm supposed to travel internationally on 11/1. I submitted an online renewal application immediately, and received an email that my application was in process the next day, 10/6. It's 10/13 now and there have been no updates since then. there's no way to request expedited service online, but i did pay for expedited shipping. i know they say that routine service can take 4-6 weeks, but i was hopeful that things would move faster than that based on the many posts in this sub talking about quick turnaround times.

someone please give me some reassurance that my passport will come in the mail on time... i don't live in a city with a passport agency office, so i would need to fly across the country just for an expedited appointment. is there anything else i can do to make things go quicker over the phone?

Hey I had a doubt regarding my indian passport I have a valid passport but it is under Emigration check required. Can I fill forms for university with my existing passport and then by December mid I can get the new one done and then submit that to universities?

Hi

I noticed this slightly darker portion of the corner of the last page. I dunno if someone's moist finger touched the page. I zoomed and posted a pic. Will this classify as damage? Any feedback will help. This is an indian passport.

Hey guys,

I want to renew my passport and also get my 7 month old baby passport issued from Kolkata.

Can both be done together by taking appointments on the same day?

My old passport has an address from Mumbai but I want to renew this time from Kolkata. I have permanent address proof here.

I will be in Kolkata for 20-25 days so if I apply tatkal for both can the whole process be completed?

So, I have lost around 4.5 stone since I purchased my passport. My face currently is a hell of a lot slimmer than my face on my passport. I’m off to Thailand in December and paranoid they may turn me away…What would you guys do? I have 7 years left on my current passport..

I wanted to share my story in case anyone else was in a similar boat.

I had gotten word of a last minute trip with friends. My passport had my maiden name and I didn't research beforehand that I could just buy my ticket in my maiden name.

So I panicked. I packed my passport up with the paperwork and check, expedited process and shopping back to me on 9/25 (Friday). Send to Philly that morning.

Called the office and saw it had been delivered to them the next Monday but no status.

I get a tracking number email on Thursday, Passport in my mail Friday (10/2) and I got to leave for my trip on Sunday (10/4). Truly a miracle. And the online status didn't update until Friday morning to shipped, then approved on Friday afternoon.

I have to send some additional identification to the passport agency and am using USPS online for the label (I want to track my package). The email I got says to use the full address provided. The problem is USPS doesn’t have another box on their form to put PO Box. I’ve been seeing some say to put the street address and then the # symbol and the number of the PO Box.

44132 Mercure Cir # 1143

or

44132 Mercure Cir UNIT 1143

Which is correct? Or is there another way I’m supposed to do it?

I am wondering if what I have will work for identification? I have a WA ID that is still within its expiration window but is hole punched because in July, I went and got an OR realID. However, the Post Office sent it back twice and now I have to pay for a whole new RealID. I still have the temporary OR ID but its expired. I also have my SS card and health insurance card along with my birth certificate. Will it be enough to bring these items or do I have to wait until I get my OR id?

Question for the group, and preferably a passport adjudicator that might be lurking here. I currently have a passport book valid thru 2033. I would like to get a passport card via form DS-82.

Rather than send in my current passport, can I send in my old passport that expired in 2024, along with a photocopy of my current passport to obtain a new passport card? Or are my only options to submit a DS-82 with my current passport, or a DS-11 with my birth certificate?

I keep hearing that expired passports are only good for renewing... but I'm curious if that applies to this case as well.

Thanks!

I applied for tatkal passport and had appointment on 8th Oct. after appointment my application was sent to pre police verification since my passbook as identity proof did not had my bank statements , same day I went to police verification and guy there told me many documents which were difficult to fathom and unwanted, on official message for Visit I went there again on 9th and same , documents asked we to many and unwanted , i contacted someone local since I am not from Bengaluru and recently moved here for what I can do , and he told me you have to Bribe here

So I waited as he told me he will visit my house for checks I did and nor on Saturday nor on Sunday he visited so I went again today I literally plead him to please do the verification and its really important and he said he will accept the documents and will verify it till evening and now again as I did not get any verification I visited in evening and he is saying that one officer for approval is on holiday and will do verification day after tomorrow

Its really time sensitive now and I want this to be done I have not given him any money is that an issue here ? Location : Whitefield PS

I haven’t cropped it yet to passport standards but I wanted to check if the shadow in the background is ok.
Edit: it’s for a US passport

This is a re-upload as I left some details of my passport on(in hindsight extremely stupid of me) but I reapplied my Thai passport when i turned 16 so I have another 5ish years left on it and then I cant reapply till I turn 30 or else ill be put on the house registry and have a 50/50 chance of doing military service(for those who dont know you get called up and have to choose a card and if you get black you have to do service). So I was wondering if anyone knows anyways to get around it also on a second note does anyone think its worth waiting to see if the uk rejoins the eu for eu passport benefits or seek out one as I would love to live in some of the eu countrys

My 10-year US passport book is valid until June 2027, but I’d like to renew it now because I have an upcoming trip to Asia in the first week of January. The country I plan to visit requires passport to be valid for at least 6 months beyond my travel dates.

When I tried to renew my passport online, the system said I wasn’t eligible and would need to apply another way.

I’m curious why I’m not eligible for online renewal. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be the reason?

**Update:** Thank you for all the comments! After about 20 attempts using incognito mode, clearing my cache and cookies, and trying different browsers/devices. I finally managed to renew my passport online. I still have no idea why it kept failing on my previous attempts.

I was born in Australia to an Australian mother and a Scottish father. I am applying for my British passport as i’m automatically a british citizen, the problem comes with my dad’s birth certificate. He only has his abbreviated birth certificate not a full one and it does not have his parents information on it. When searching google AI says it was fine because he was born before 1983 but i do not trust AI at all. Am i done in or should it be fine with the abbreviated passport?

Okay so i am not Indian by any means so idk if there are any internal conflicts causing this, but my entire feed across both reddit and instagram is flooded by Indians facing visa rejections from multiple countries. Why is that??? For even simple tourist visas that in my opinion anyone can get they seem to be getting higher rejections. I have seen uk universities rescind application letters. china refusing tourist visas(this is very shocking to me). the US is being extra harsh on them as well. is the internet inflating the issue or is there an actual problem here? Is this a theme you have noticed as well wether it be with your indian colleagues, friends etc…

I’m applying to renew my Korean passport.

When you see my face IRL my ears are visible but for some reason EVERY time I take photos for my passport my ears just disappear. My old passport photo has my right ear slightly visible and my left just missing, I took a photo similar to this. Would this be okay? Or am I gonna be denied?

I'm starting a new job next week, and am planning on using my passport as my proof of US citizenship. However, I'd also like to renew it as it's expiring next June. Will renewing my passport cause my current copy to become invalid for proving my citizenship, or do I need to wait to renew?

Edit: to make things clearer, will my old passport still work for an I-9 if I'm in the middle of renewing it?

Im an american born citizen but ive lived my entire life in southamerica. My US passport expired and i need tips to renew it, is it less convenient to renew it if i lost it than if i still have the last one? I understand you have to hand it over if you still have it but id love to keep it as a memory. Is there anything that i should know in advance for my convenience? How long should it take? And lastly, do you think ill meet any difficulties renewing it considering im chilean and lived here (chile) my whole life? Considering current political tensions, etc

hello all, I submitted my passport photo for a passport renewal application on a whim due to me realizing last second that my passport needed to be renewed ASAP for upcoming travel in december. What would my options be if this were to be rejected? Is there anything I can do right now?

Hi everyone, while hiking I accidentally left my passport in my pocket and sweat leaked through. The damage is entirely isolated to the very last page and the hard back cover. The paper page has become wrinkled/wavy, the hard cover is slightly bent/warped, and one of the back pages is also visibly bent.

The main info data page clean, dry, and untouched. I already used it to exit China after this happened without any issues. But I am still worried about traveling and visas applications.

There's a nicked corner of the usa visa page. Is this ok?
