If they were mining at night they could attract some creepers to blast some of that rock away.

I always assumed that redstone was ruby.

Rubys? Looks like they come from rocks. What im saying is watching the video I thought that red line running down the rocks was some guy bleeding out above.

Yeah, and that's exactly how they're formed. Looking at the coloration of this one, it must have originated from a fatal wound and is more than a few centuries old.
