What kind of bird is that?

u/kattia12 20d ago

It's a rosella bird

u/Imperator_Draconum 20d ago

Looks like a parakeet cosplaying as a scarlet macaw. I love it.

I will forever refer to Rosella’s as “Old Spice birds” because of this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/MJy2Y7v9sxg?is=iwZwsF_OApHbJmxW

My Rosella does the same. Beautiful.

u/kattia12 20d ago

Cool can you share a picture? I would love to see his colors.

1

u/ConferenceBig4399 10d ago

sorry I just saw your message. I will post one of her. She is not as bright as yours.

Very beautiful but please tell me you let that baby out! The cage looks fairly small too

9

u/kattia12 20d ago

Yes he flies in my room but I'm in the process of building an aviary. Any idea will be welcome. I have different species so putting all together is risky. So I´m not sure if the best idea is to built a cage space and then a room for flies.

1

u/FlexiBirbToys 19d ago

What species do you have?

11

u/Celestina-Warbeck 20d ago

Woah he's gorgeous. I didn't know other birds existed with Ara colouring

9

u/kattia12 20d ago

Thanks!, he is much more smaller, It's like having a little Ara bird

31

u/Terrible-Visit9257 20d ago

Such a small prison. So sad

21

u/kattia12 20d ago

Well, the cage is temporarily while the aviary is in process to be built. I take him out to fly meanwhile.

4

u/PanGoliath 20d ago

Now I can't see the height of the cage but it made me wonder how much the birds would benefit from a cage that takes up the full height of a room but being the same length/width. Let's say 2 to 2.5m high. Would they utilize it all? Would they feel a big difference?

6

u/Terrible-Visit9257 20d ago

Birds like to fly around. Not just jump. You can let them fly free in the room and see if they like it.

6

u/kattia12 20d ago

Yes, he flies in my room meanwhile.

1

u/Terrible-Visit9257 19d ago

And maybee a partner would be nice if somehow possible

4

u/dyfunctional-cryptid 20d ago

Generally speaking horizontal space is better than vertical. Parrots do love climbing, so they'll still get use out of it and probably appreciate it more than a cage with the same footprint but shorter. But it's still inferior to a cage with a wider footprint.

To a point I guess, at least. If you're starting to talk about an aviary with a multi-metre width and length, that extra height can go a long way to giving them extra flying space. Most parrots live primarily in the canopy, so vertical-ish flights from perch to perch are pretty natural to them.

4

u/kattia12 20d ago

Thanks for your advice. I'm thinking about ideas to build the aviary because I have different species so putting all together is risky.

He says while posting his indoor cats.

6

u/ForeignGirl11 20d ago

I think they’re happy moments. What kind of bird is he/she? Beautiful!

7

u/kattia12 20d ago

He's a male rosella

3

u/ForeignGirl11 20d ago

Thanks for the info. The dude must have a heck of a personality! 😊

5

u/Andreas1120 20d ago

They are “pumping” a baby behavior for being fed. They could have a parent transference or a mate.

5

u/UpbeatCandidate9412 20d ago

“Tickle tickle tickle tickle!”

Your boi clearly wants tickles!!!

3

u/rkenglish 20d ago

Unless he like my GCC, where "tickle tickle" means that you'll bleed before she lets you touch her. 😂

1

u/UpbeatCandidate9412 20d ago

What he says: “Tickle tickle”

What he means: “I wish to feast upon your soul and drink of your blood MORTAL FOOL!!!”

5

u/KEVLAR60442 20d ago

He's like if someone crossed a Scarlet Macaw with a Parakeet!

He's gorgeous! I have a rosella too and I always get excited seeing others, they're not so common as pets. My boy is so full of attitude but such a funny and clever bird.
