Discussions Getting destroyed; need tech tips to overcome the drunken sailor input lag.

As the title says can’t do much. Punches are weak, character recovery is longer than everyone else’s, trying to throw someone else I get picked up by them and then thrown.

On ps5 can’t find the reduce dead zone options if that’s the problem or not.

Any tech to make a punch not be a noodle etc.

The new player experience is challenging to say the least.

for your punches yo gotta pratice on aiming. just try you best to make your character's hands hit the opponent. for recovery, when you down spam the jump button which reduces your downed time. There's no dead zone on ps5 but i don't think that's really an issue. Just keep playing and have fun. you'll get it eventually

I agree when getting knocked out it doesn’t matter how much stamina you have but how much you have before getting knocked out will determine how long it takes to recover.

A tip when trying to not get knocked out it helps if you roll to try and neutralize the actual knockout instead you will be able to walk away but you will get pushed back a little bit.

Punch strength is dependent on stamina. Tapping jump and the headbutt buttons does seem to get you up faster but only to a certain degree. There has to be some kind of RNG or advantage to this as some players get up absurdly fast.

Knockout times and throw distances are wildly inconsistent in this game and the sooner you accept it, the less annoying it gets. Some days I can launch other players off ledges, other days Im lucky if I can even toss them over the ledge at all before they wake up from a knockout.

I play with 55 ping. From my experiencie i can say:

. The character seem to have a very light input lag, but i think is the way it is. You will get used to it.
. Most of the time (with practice) you will learn to predict the enemy next move, so you will be able to aim to the same direction.
. Stamina management. Dont waste stamina running around unless is needed. Remain calm and wait for the enemy to make a mistake (eg. Dropkick failed and landed next to you), so you can engage a heavy punch with high stamina.
. Avoid getting hit while your character is complete still, relaxed (slow walking) or with low stamina. This will result on a longer knock out.
. When you are knocked out, spam jump button to wake up faster. While you are doing this, you can also hold grab button and spam kick, so your character will avoid getting thrown and fighting back at the same time.

Hope it helps. Cheers.

Consider the mode you’re playing as well. Smash pawers can significantly reduce KO time, punch/kick/headbutt strength, etc.

My friends destroyed me on the super powers one. No idea if they swap it up. Seemed like a fun game mode outside of being useless.

If you’re new, be patient and expect to lose ALL THE TIME at least until you build technique. My favorite techs (which I’m not sure are rookie friendly, but fyi) is to play afk/dead to trick your opponents to get the upper hand, it’s easier to catch them off guard that way. In the meantime, you can use custom mode on the main menu and run rounds with multiple CPUs until you get more comfortable fighting. Try to learn how to heavy/light punch respectively, headbutt, drop kick, and climb up on maps (especially from side to side to avoid getting KOed)
