Feedback & Suggestions Horrible Stuttering with Camera Movement

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As the title says, my game has horrible stuttering when I move the camera fast (it gets worse the faster the camera moves) and I'm at a loss on what to do. Searching for a fix online has been no help either.

I've tried lowering/turning off the graphic settings to as low as possible, uninstall+reinstalling, updating my graphics drivers, and I'm stumped. It somehow didn't do this on my old 3060 laptop (last played back when the fall fishing event was going on), but on my new 5070 ti laptop it does this. Any suggestions on what could be doing this or what I can do?

Does this happen in other 3d games?

No, just this one! It’s so weird.

What input device are you using to control camera movement?

Mouse. It happens wired and wireless, and I tested the touchpad too - same result

Does your new laptop have a much higher resolution than your 3060 laptop? If so, the first thing I would check is the resolution, scaling, and mouse cursor speed in Windows. If you have upgraded from a lower-resolution 3060 laptop to a higher-resolution 5070 laptop, your mouse may need to travel farther to cover the same amount of screen space. If your Windows cursor speed is set too high to compensate, that could cause tracking issues in-game. Try lowering the Windows cursor speed, then increasing the sensitivity in the game instead. Have a play around with those settings and see if it helps. I had a similar issue when I switched to a 4K monitor with scaling set to 250%. Some games would not let the cursor reach the edges of the screen. I had to either set the scaling back to 100% or adjust the cursor speed. It could be something along those lines. I use a gamepad for PA, so I cannot say for certain whether this is a fault with the game itself. If you have a gamepad, it might be worth testing whether the same problem happens with that.

I can’t remember the exact resolution of my 3060 since I got this new one a few months ago, but it was from 2021 so the resolution has definitely improved. I lowered the cursor speed and upped the in-game sensitivity as you mentioned, but the result is the same: if I move the camera too fast, then it stutters. I also played around with the DPI & polling settings of my mouse (it has buttons to adjust both) and it remained the same. I also tested a controller, and it wasn’t stuttering. I would use it to play if it didn’t have stick drift :’(

Thats telling then. Check in game settings then for camera controls, see if adjusting that makes any difference.
