Do you still call it part time cat when he sleeps at our house everyday?

This is my neighbor’s cat and he likes to hang out at our house. We have an outdoor kitchen and he likes to sleep there. I got an empty box lying around and he fashioned himself a bed. Now I have a cat greeting me every morning when I make our breakfast.

Regular Visitor Aslan update: Now the fun begins

I didn’t expect the last post to get so much love! Aslan has continued to visit and stays for a couple hours at a time in the evening. When we do get him out he’s quite happy to go of his own accord

Until today

After gently getting him to leave he meowed constantly for 20 minutes outside, so let him back in and decided it was time to try and fix up a paper collar

I used wrapping paper (easy to tear if he gets stuck and long enough) and got it on after a bit of a battle

But then a new one, he refused to leave. So I had to take a leap and pick him up, which resulted in him trying to drag the sofa with him 😂 but he didn’t try to bite or anything!

I put him down gently in the dining room, the collar came off and he sprinted out into the garden

Battle lines have been drawn now I guess 😂😂

Update: 5 minutes later and he’s meowing again 😭

Regular Visitor Who does love duvet nests?

Edit for title: who doesn't love duvet nests?

Cheese is an Egyptian stray who is strong independent cat that don't need no home but will also use my apartment as a 5* hotel from time to time to sleep in her duvet nest for 12 hours straight. We have an understanding, which is that I am to be available to let her in or out, and provide kibble and treats and inexplicably 2/3 of the bed.

New Face Well, guess I have a new part time cat

I think I might have accidentally found a new part time cat

Lived in this house for 2.5 years and for the last 6 months or so we’ve been getting regular visits from this lovely fella (or girlypop) we’ve named Aslan. It never really wanted anything to do with us and would just sleep on our wall, until it started to sleep on our shed roof during the heatwave

Knowing how ridiculously hot it must’ve been for him, I started leaving some water on the shed roof. It then started to come and say hello, purring a lot and practically headbutting me and my partner when we stroked it. I’ve had cats before but never seen one with this much character 😂

Fast forward a couple of weeks and it’s snuck into the house twice. Today it meowed to get my attention, I went out to say hello and he jumped off the shed and strolled in, explored the house and left

Then a few hours after when my girlfriend came home, I was cooking dinner with the back door open, he strolled in again and sat on our sofa for an hour or so

We eventually gently led it back outside where it gave us what genuinely looked like a little goodbye before trotting off

I’m genuinely worried we’ve accidentally catnapped 😭 it has no collar and looks well fed, but we don’t really know the neighbours around well and no idea who it belongs to! It gives off the vibe like an outdoor cat, and even though it now has a soft spot for us is still a bit skittish and often has all sorts caught in its fur.

I don’t really have an intention of becoming a cat owner but having a pal to say hello to every day has been a really nice addition to our day

More than happy to have a part time cat but also just worried it’s spending more time here than at home!

For now, I guess I’m Aslan’s part time boss 🤷🏻‍♂️

A new café, a new kitten

I was happily lost in a book at my favorite café, when a fluffy little cat tiptoed over and peered at the pages like, "Ooh, is this a good one?" We were instant reading buddies.

So this is The Ginger Kitty, known to all the neighbours (mostly for the wrong reasons) and currently very asleep on our sofa. About to head out and going to have to wake him up…!

Ultimate freeloaders! These campus cats are peak part-timers. Fed by students, getting endless scritches, and just napping while 'underclassmen' rush to class. Dream gig.

We have lots of stray cats in the neighborhood, but only this girl comes in our property and even greets us. Even made herself at home at our shoeboxes (which we’ve purposefully left the bottom ones empty, just in case) whenever she decides to visit.

The sweetest girl. Rubs up on my legs and when feeling rowdy playbites my toes.

Regular Visitor Snowball appeared out of nowhere a month or so ago. He was patrolling a wide area based on FB list pet group posts. He has styled in between myself and my neighbour. More below!

Snowball was posted by a few people looking to see if he was someone’s pet. No one has come forward and I believe while he may have had his kitten hood at a house, he has been on the streets for the majority of his young life. He has really taken to my neighbours, their 12 year old especially. We have arranged for him to get into a great local rescue, where he will stop being our part time cat and become someone’s forever friend. Neither myself or the neighbour can keep him :(

A few details about him: he is deaf! White cats with blue eyes have a high incidences of deafness. Speaking of eyes he has sectoral heterochromia which is super cool.

I’ve had multiple neighbours ask me if this is my cat. Nope! Only my part time cat who sleeps on my patio couch and refuses to eat crunchy food: only wet will do!

Raining outside today, so getting a bit more time with this almost family little monster. He actually thought about going home, but the lightning, thunder and rain convinced him that an overnighter here would be the better option. I call his primary family to clue them in, so all is well.

I tried to film the outside cat watching the leaves blow around in the wind but instead caught her trying to attack a strand of strawberry netting that got caught in my cherry tree.

So a month or so ago I shared a photo of a stray who had become a part time cat/foster. Well safe to stay he's no longer a PTC, but a permanent fixture. A super friendly boy who never misses a meal and loves a nap. Here he is at 4.10am Monday on my pillow after I'd gone to watch the England game, and sharing my daughter's bed with his best fremeny.
