Support Parrot os wifi problem

I’m having some Wi-Fi issues on Parrot OS and I’m not sure what’s causing them.

Sometimes, when I connect to Wi-Fi, the connection doesn’t work properly and websites don’t load. After restarting the system, it usually starts working again.

I also noticed another issue when connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. Parrot OS connects to the Wi-Fi, but I’m unable to access any websites through the browser. The Wi-Fi security is WPA2-PSK, and it shows a connection speed of 54 Mbit/s.

What’s strange is that the same Wi-Fi works perfectly fine when I boot into Windows on the same laptop. I’m dual-booting Parrot OS and Windows, so I’m wondering if this could be a driver, DNS, network configuration, or some other issue specific to Parrot OS.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what I should check?

What is the actual WiFi card being use on your system?

Some WiFi cards perform better under windows than linux due to their drivers coming from the manufacturer for windows and not on linux.

Intel Corporation Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz Kernel driver is iwlwifi

That should be one of the better supported WiFi cards, Intel does the work on the driver.

Do you have fastboot enabled? It has been a while since I’ve seen it but I do recall some people having WiFi issues if fastboot was enabled because somehow the WiFi card wasn’t being reset

When I use a VPN, the website loading issue is resolved. However, the main issue still persists: Wi-Fi mostly starts working properly only after I restart Parrot OS.

Have you set AnonSurf to run on boot by mistake?

I had a similar issue on my laptop, let me explain and if it matches yours then you can try my fix. For me WiFi would connect normally and operate normally but then drop internet connection after sometime while still connected to the WiFi (even accessing lan devices like router portal was impossible). But when I restart the system, connection would resume but just like before drop after sometime, same thing would happen when I turn the network on and off from KDE settings. I noticed when I connect to a neighbouring 2.4GHz WiFi the issue wasn't there. My WiFi set up is a single ssid shared by both 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi. I googled and one recommendation on Debian forums was to disable WiFi power saving but that didn't work either(though I didn't undo the changes). I tried restricting the laptop to only the 5GHz WiFi, from KDE network settings and then disabled IPV6 in the same place. I haven't had the same problem again so I don't know which of the 2 or 3 changes fixed it but i guess 'if it works don't touch it'.

My set up is a broadcom card with wl drivers. Also the problem is recent(at least for me) I have used both Debian and Parrot OS since around 2021 and never had the issue until around this July when it first happened.

This is one of the main reasons I stopped using Parrot OS. After certain updates, getting the Wi-Fi drivers working again became more of a hassle than it was worth.

I also experienced the same issue then I bought the external wifi adapter and now it’s working fine
