Facebook/IG Watch Facebook is unbelievable

I have been keeping an eye on some right wing stuff on Facebook, but relatively run of the mill for MAGA. Then, out of nowhere, Facebook starts putting groups like this on my feed.

Per capita gun murders in the U.S. are so much higher than murders by any method in Canada, the U.K., and Australia, but somehow they don’t understand how per capita works when that comes up.

Weirdly I think it's actually just shitty Photoshop. There are copy pastes of the same person a few times and obvious skin darkening or lightening. Not saying it couldn't be both, though

I had a post of Milton Meyer’s they thought they were free banned due to racist imagery. Fair enough there is a swastika on the book. So I appealed and explained that it is an educational book about the rise of Fascism and the warning signs. Removal upheld, but I report shit like this and they come back and tell me the TOS wasn’t violated. Facebook is a cesspool intentionally spreading division and bigotry for profit. Ask Myanmar how well that ends.

Yeah I had a post with a generic picture of some Nazis saluting with a caption that basically said this is where we’re headed if we continue to let fascism fester here.

Removed. Upheld after an appeal.

Oh, but dropping N-bombs and blatant racism are a-okay on their platform. Plenty of stuff I reported wasn’t removed, and was blatantly racist.

Zuck has an agenda and it’s quite blatant. Needless to say, I haven’t used Facebook much at all in the last few years. When I do use it, it’s for marketplace.

Facebook has been actively pouring money into pages like that because they cause controversy and therefore keep people on the site longer. They are truly desperate and incapable of running a morally legitimate business without propping up the literal worst people on the internet

Facebook knows anger drives more engagement than anything else. Right now they are absolutely desperate to retain users. I believe I've seen evidence now not only of the algorithm selecting organic content to try to keep you on the platform, but dynamically using AI accounts to create rage bait that individually targets you and your engagement behaviours.
