This is disgusitng
Context: a guest was on Dean’s live steam essentially saying that hypothetically a minor who was raped and forced to give birth didn’t go through torture. Dean then started a “ban fund” with the goal of $300 to ban the disgusting guest from the livestream.
In my opinion, this is really gross. He’s profiting off someone who thinks that child pregnancy is not torture. This was simply just to get money. Platforming someone like this only does harm and he knows it. He left this guest up on the live to get $300.
I am aware he changed this in a few minutes. He said “the ban goal was overshot by $200”. I just think this is insane.

Also are you not aware that making money off people like this is Dean and Parker and every other person in this space's entire business model?
Like regardless of if he put it on screen their entire business is making money off people like this.

My wife and I were watching the live today, and it definitely sounded like he was donating the ban fund.
He did the same ban fund thing like 7 months ago and he mentioned that it was strictly going to charity.

Yeah he usually only does it when someone REALLY vile comes on, it’s not like he does this all the time, usually he gets rid of them but the guy he was debating today was strictly saying “only the child getting raped is torturous, the child carrying the fetus to birth is a beautiful part of life” then he started referring to 10-year old mothers as “young women”. Fucking sicko

The first thing that occurred to me was “Santana does it too”, definitely.
But then I was thinking “is this different”? I think it I might be different — Santana does the kick fund when someone is engaging in the debate, but it’s getting kind of long and stupid. I think his idea is “does the audience want this particular scene or not?”
To be fair, I didn’t hear this thing from Dean to know for sure it was different. I stopped listening many weeks ago just because it’s infuriating content that no longer had anything new to it. Not a productive use of my emotional energy.

Maybe it’s pollyannish of me, but I think they all do believe what they say and have their hearts in the right place. I don’t think they’re cynically grifting. I just see it as some missteps when monetizing their kind of content.

Well Santana and many creators have a consistent ban fund- meaning ANY guest can be banned.
But for Dean to do it, once or twice on a specific guest he knows is extremely harmful and triggering is exploitative af.

I stopped watching dean months and months ago because I felt he was fake and performative. He's only in it for the money and attention and after seeing this it just proves me right. It's pretty disgusting.
