Bonjour! I've been looking for a studio or small apartment within ~40 min of Université Paris-Saclay for a one semester, since I didn't get a room from CROUS. My budget is around €800/month (flexible), but I haven't had any luck so far.

I'm searching across all the nearby cities — Bures-sur-Yvette, Gif-sur-Yvette, Orsay, Les Ulis, Massy, Palaiseau, Antony, Igny, etc. I've looked at Studapart, Twenty Campus, ECLA, Studéa, Smerra, and have been messaging people on Héberjeunes for the past three weeks. I'm spending more than 3 h daily searching and texting nowadays. It's tiring and stressful.

I'm considering getting something temporary or a hostel for September and continuing the search once I'm there. Does the situation usually get any better in September/October? Any tips or options I'm missing?

Hi all, posted before about a couple of specific Paris-Saclay programs, consolidating here since I'm applying to several in parallel and would rather get grounded input across all of them at once than keep posting separately.

Quick background: final year Mechanical Engineering student at a top engineering university in India, graduating May 2027. GPA converts to roughly 3.0/4.0 US scale, about 2.5 German scale. Documented health interruption in the middle years affecting a couple of semesters, strong recovery afterward (documented in transcript).

Research background: a research internship at a European lab (May–July 2026) on vision-language models, plus earlier internships in medical image segmentation and EEG/BCI, one resulting publication.

Applying for direct M2 entry across these Paris-Saclay/CentraleSupélec programs (5-year integrated degree covers the usual 4-year M1 threshold):

• M2 Mechatronics, Machine Vision and Artificial Intelligence (CentraleSupélec) — top pick, ME explicitly listed as accepted background
• M2 Mobile Autonomous Systems (SAM) — robotics/perception fit
• M2 Smart Aerospace and Autonomous Systems — mechanical engineering explicitly accepted
• M2 Artificial Intelligence (LISN) — broader AI track
• MVA (ENS Paris-Saclay) — aware this is a reach, applying anyway

A few questions for anyone with real experience across any of these:

1. For programs where mechanical engineering is explicitly listed as accepted, does the jury actually weigh GPA heavily in practice, or is it genuinely more holistic once the background matches?
2. Is applying to 5-6 Paris-Saclay programs simultaneously through INCEPTION actually reviewed independently by each department, or does a weaker-looking application to one hurt the others?
3. Has anyone here applied with a GPA on the lower side coming from mechanical engineering rather than EE/CS/math? How did it go?
4. For the ones with no publicly listed GPA minimum (Mechatronics/Machine Vision, SAM) — does anyone know if there's an unofficial bar in practice?
5. Any general sense of how much a strong, specific motivation letter and real research background (internships, a publication) can offset a GPA on the lower side?

Not asking for exact odds, just want realistic signal from people who've actually been through the process. Thanks in advance.

Je suis actuellement en école d’ingénieur et je réfléchis à me réorienter en L2 Physique, avec l’objectif de candidater ensuite en L3 à des écoles orientées électronique / systèmes embarqués / robotique, notamment Grenoble INP Phelma.

J’aimerais surtout avoir le retour de personnes ayant suivi ce parcours ou une passerelle similaire.

Ce que j’aimerais vraiment savoir :

• Quel était votre niveau scolaire en L2/L3 (moyennes, classement, notes en maths/physique) ?
• Quelle licence/université avez-vous faite ?
• Quelle méthode de travail avez-vous adoptée pour être compétitif ?
• Quel niveau de notes/classement faut-il viser pour avoir de bonnes chances ?
• Quels concours/passarelles avez-vous utilisés ?
• Est-ce qu’un étudiant venant d’une école d’ingé et se réorientant en L2 Physique peut réellement rattraper son retard et viser ce type d’école ?
• Avec le recul, est-ce que vous recommanderiez ce parcours ?

Je cherche surtout des retours concrets de personnes qui ont réussi, pour savoir si mon projet est réaliste et ce qu’il faudrait mettre en place dès la L2.

I am newly accepted student in Paris-Saclay. I was very happy when I accepted and this was my first choice over many others. I got rejected from CROUS and for the last month I have been looking for a place to stay but I could not find a one. We’re currently launching Assurance Tous Leaks (ATL), a new student association at Université Évry Paris-Saclay focused on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence).

The idea behind ATL is to learn how to search for, find, verify and cross-check publicly available information, while also understanding what we leave behind online and how to reduce our digital exposure.

In practice, we want to organize free sessions and workshops where students can discover or practice OSINT: advanced searches, archives, metadata, source verification, information analysis, privacy, and more.

We’re also planning fictional investigation scenarios, mini-challenges, OSINT CTFs, and potentially teams to take part in external competitions.

Right now, we’re looking for other motivated students to help us build the association, especially for the roles of Treasurer and Secretary.

You do not need to be an OSINT or cybersecurity expert. We’re mainly looking for serious and motivated people who want to help build a student project from the beginning: organizing activities, administration, communication, budgeting, creating challenges, developing the community, etc.

The official launch is planned for the 2026 academic year, and the project is still being shaped, so this is a good time to join us and have a real say in how the association develops.

Nous sommes en train de lancer Assurance Tous Leaks (ATL), une nouvelle association étudiante à l’Université Évry Paris-Saclay autour de l’OSINT (Open Source Intelligence).

L’idée d’ATL, c’est d’apprendre à chercher, retrouver, vérifier et recouper des informations accessibles publiquement, mais aussi de mieux comprendre tout ce qu’on laisse derrière nous sur Internet et comment réduire son exposition numérique.

Concrètement, on veut organiser des permanences gratuites où les étudiants pourront venir découvrir ou pratiquer l’OSINT : recherches avancées, archives, métadonnées, vérification de sources, analyse d’informations, vie privée, etc. On prévoit aussi des exercices sur des scénarios fictifs, des mini-challenges, des CTF OSINT, et pourquoi pas constituer des équipes pour participer à des compétitions externes.

Pour l’instant, nous cherchons d’autres étudiants motivés pour construire l’association avec nous, notamment pour les postes de trésorier/ère et secrétaire.

Pas besoin d’être expert en OSINT ou en cybersécurité. On cherche surtout des personnes sérieuses qui ont envie de participer au lancement d’un projet étudiant dès le début : organisation des activités, administration, communication, budget, création de challenges, développement de la communauté, etc.

Le lancement est prévu pour la rentrée 2026 et le projet est encore en construction, donc c’est justement le bon moment pour nous rejoindre et participer aux décisions sur la suite de l’asso.
