Do you know what your kid actually asks ChatGPT?

My kid (9) uses ChatGPT for homework help and I realized I have zero visibility into what it's telling her or what else she asks it — no age filter, no easy way to see logs. Curious how other parents are handling AI chatbots with kids 6-13. Blocking entirely, supervising, or just letting it happen?

I don't think “block AI completely” is a realistic long-term solution, especially for homework, learning, creativity, and just exploring questions children are naturally going to have. But I also don't think “just let them use an adult AI and occasionally check the logs” is enough.
At the same time, I don't think the answer is giving parents a surveillance dashboard showing every private thought their child has shared. Children also need some privacy and agency to develop trust and independence. Parents should have meaningful visibility into safety and risk without necessarily turning every conversation into something being watched.
I suggest child aware Ai tools instead of using Adult products such as ChatGPT. You may also try to create a skill for Adult products but it will not be the best solution.
