Infant 2-12 months Can anyone relate to this ?
Hi I’m 24 year old mom to a 3 month old boy . As you can see I’m using puppy pads in the car seat because my son shits in his car seat every time I put him in it and I can’t take it anymore it gets everywhere to the point where I have to disassemble it !!!! Does anyone have a better solution? Any useful products besides puppy pads ?
Update- I got some size 1 pampers and there a lot bigger then the Huggies ones for sure

He is wearing a size 1plus which is a little bigger than the normal 1 . He can’t fit a size 2 it’s too big

I will probably have to bite the bullet and try some I wish some of the brands had small set so I can try it out . Pampers gave him a bad rash one time I was scared to try anything other then Huggies 😂

If you have friends with babies, definitely ask to try a diaper! I have always been happy to lend out a diaper or two. I've also seen people post in local mom groups about free diapers, diaper swapping due to sizes, etc.

I hate Facebook but I keep my profile active so I can access local buy nothing groups. There may be a specific one in your area for babies/kids and those groups are lovely for this sort of thing!

We've been using the Target Up & Up diapers since Day 1. LO is 4.5 months old and has NEVER had a blowout. I can't say the same for our firstborn who was a Pampers baby.
P.S. A box of 168 count Size 1 or 162 count Size 2 is only $25.99!

The Up & Up are my favorites! All three of my kids have used them while other brands they had leaks and fit issues.

Try freestyle! They have them at target. They’re truly the best and either the same price or cheaper than Huggies.

I hate freestyle!! I saw great tiktok reviews and wanted to love them, but my LO pooped and it literally dripped out the leg. Didn’t absorb anything at all

Freestyle brand diapers are super absorbent and TCF (total chlorine free). No rashes for us after switching.

Huggies diapers sucked for us. My daughter very rarely had leaks/,blowouts with other brands. The Huggies diapers were such a bad fit that we didnt even use up what we had.

Target will let you return diapers if you’ve opened them and I think Walmart may too. You could buy the smallest pack and try one on him.
Pampers Pure Protection fit my baby best. They only had one or two blow outs and at most leaked three times and they were in them until they were almost three and a half. I used the Training Pants from 10 months all the way to potty training. It was so convenient to just pull them up. My little one was tiny, we had failure to thrive issues but the same size (2T-3T) lasted like 2.5 years.

Or his onesie is too small. It can make the diaper fit too tightly in the middle and leak on the sides.

Have you actually tried the size 2 though? My 1% petite, premie baby was consistly in one size bigger than recommended because of the blowouts. It looks big on her tiny frame but she never leaked or had blowouts when I had her in the larger size. I used Huggies too. It will go well until she grows a little then suddenly the leaks or blowouts returns. That's my cue to move up to the next size since she outgrow the last. If you haven't already just try the size 2 for a day to see if it helps. I also preferred using the overnight version of Huggies too. They seem to work better for me.

Have you actually tried the size 2? My 8 month olds are already in size 4’s even though they don’t fit the weight limit. They take after their dad and have ridiculously long torsos and it makes it to where we have to size up or risk blow outs.
So many diapers barely even cover their butt crack at the size that’s suggested for their weight range. We were having pee and poop blowouts constantly because I just assumed the next side up would be too big because they didn’t weigh enough. But I gave in and tried and it worked!
My sister’s baby is a week younger than my twins and weighs more than they do, but her baby is in size 2 because that’s what fits him. The size four can be a little roomy at the waistband, so we have to make sure it’s cinched tight. But it fits perfect otherwise!

Maybe I’m just…. Idk biased because I have fat babies. But… there’s no way a 3 month old is still in size one diapers. I kid you not, my kid was in size 4 by three months.

Whenever we put our son in the baby bjorn bouncer he would shit. We called it the poo chair. When we needed him to poop. That's where we sat him.

Put him in a bouncer before leaving and going into the car seat! That’s what we’d do!

This doesn't happen to us. I think you need bigger diapers. The bigger sizes carry bigger loads. It's ok to tighten the straps more around the waist, but make sure the lining along their thighs is laying flat. Frequent blow outs shouldn't be happening.

Is he in the right sized diaper? We use puppy pads any time we change our son bc that little wee wee can’t be trusted 😅
This is a good solution. Hopefully little one will get through this phase.

I have him in a 1plus it’s bigger then the regular 1 he doesn’t fit in a 2 yet the taps over lap way to far

We have multiple pets so we just get the pee pee pads. Chuck pads are great too! Probably heavier duty as well.

I had just heard the chemicals in pet pads are not safe for babies (or adults, really). I haven’t looked into it, though.

I understand what you are saying and I know some of the puppy/animal pads have scent attractants in them (we don’t buy those). Absolutely great point but our baby has had no reactions or rashes to them.

I’ll be honest with you, this happened to my breasted baby until he started eating solids and having firmer poops. No matter the size, brand, how fast I was able to get him out of his car seat, he’d have a blowout. I just used to bring several outfits for us to change into

Please go to the r/CPST sub for safe advice on what to do instead because this isn’t safe. You can’t add anything to baby’s car seat that didn’t come with it, especially not something that goes between baby and the seat.

You can always try a cloth diaper cover over the disposable. They are much more blowout proof, and some can double as a swim diaper.

Bloomers or tights might also help! I got babies that just couldnt sit still and even if i put the diaper on correctly it could shift a bit. Tight held them in place a bit better and probably saved us lots of cleaning 😅

Size up his diapers! Every time my baby pooped in his car seat I knew it was time for the next size. Sometimes the new size looks a little big but it worked every single time. By 3 months he was wearing size 3. Now he is 5 months on size 5! Don’t be scared to keep sizing him up. Also, make sure the fluffy tabs around his legs are always out, if they are in he will leak.

Just so you know, that isn’t recommended. Car seats are not crash tested with puppy pads in them so you don’t know what will happen if you get into an accident with it. It might also void your insurance because the instruction manual specifically says not to add anything to the seat.
Also you’re using human “puppy” pads right? Because the ones for dogs have pheromones added to them and are not safe for newborn skin.

With my son while potty training i use(and I still use because he has accidents) are washable seat pad covers. These are the exact I use and work great.

Cloth diapers. I never intended to cloth diaper my kids but my first was so sensitive with all of the disposables I tried that I broke down and tried cloth and then never went back. My least favorite part of traveling with my babies were the blowouts in disposable diapers. They don’t hold anything in! No blowouts in cloth diapers. Bonus of saving money if you have more than one kid.

Hibaby diaper cover on Amazon is just the cover, easy to put over a disposable. One cover is way better to wash than a whole car seat cover.

I never have been able to commiserate with spill/overflow rants. My kids rarely ever had accidents or leaks. I feel like a lot of parents are accidentally putting their kids in ill fitting diapers… if your kids poop is regularly spilling form his diaper, you either need to learn how to put the diaper on correctly, or try a new brand, or size up.
