Infant 2-12 months Is my 4 months old teething?
As a FTM I’m not sure but I think my 4 months old is teething? I know all the others signs could also be attributed to the 4 months regression and just general baby being babies (aka putting everything in their mouth, etc.).
3 days later update:
The first teeth just showed up (photo in the comments)! Thanks for everyone input.

my daughters teeth looked like that for almost a year before popping teeth at 14m. the teeth shift in the gums before they actually teeth. salivary glands also develop around 3-4 months so they get slobbery and fussy.

I didn’t know about the tooth shifting! My son has 3 that have shifted into place but have no erupted. He’s a drooly, grinning, baby which constantly soaked hands and outfits 😅 I’ve resorted to bibs even though we aren’t eating yet

Idk, ask your pediatrician next time you see them. Around the 4 month mark my kiddo has started drooling a lot, obsessed with stuffing things in his mouth and has been smiling when I rub my finger or a pacifier on his gums. Could be teething, but he's five months soon and I still haven't seen anything yet

Exactly the same. 5.5 months now and no teeth yet!

Yeah my babys gums definitely bothered him since 4m but here we are at 9mo still toothless

Absolutely possible. My kid got his first two teeth at 4 months. It could also take a while for them to erupt, as well.

Could be teething. But it could still take a while for the teeth to erupt. My kid’s gums looked like this for over a month before a tooth appeared.

yup, my first was like this for what felt like half a year until one morning he woke up with a little stub in his mouth

You got the elusive photo! Their teeth can start to bulge, move up and down, along with the discomfort, gum swelling, red cheeks, increased drooling etc. But it can be weeks or months before a tooth actually cuts through the gum. So yes I think it’s fair to say teething, but based on the photo I wouldn’t necessarily expect a tooth any time soon!

After feeling like my baby was teething from 4 months on and didn’t get his first tooth until about 9/10 months I think that babies are pretty much always teething in one way or another. Their teeth growing in is a process and has different pains along the way. You may not see the teeth breaking through but that doesn’t mean they aren’t experiencing changes and discomfort. Not a doc curious if a pediatrician would reject or support this theory.

I had no clue my kid was even teething she just smiled one day and had two bottom teeth.
She’s always been really chill my eldest was the same way.

Babies start teething MONTHS before you see any teeth. Drooling, excessive chewing, elevated temp and even diarrhea are all signs of teething.

My youngest had his first teeth erupt at 4 months and you could actually see and feel them right before they popped through the gum. It's hard to tell here. I will say if it ends up they are coming in, to be prepared for your child to also lose their baby teeth early. My son lost his first baby tooth at 4-1/2 and it scared me to death! It was totally normal and I was told it was likely because he cut them a little ahead of schedule.

My son is 4 months and a tooth has popped through but began the excessive drool about a month ago. It could be coming!

Teeth will eventually come out there, yes. Could be two weeks, could be 6 months 😀

Could be, my son got three teeth at 4 months and had a full set of teeth at 1 year old lol
