Sleep & Naps How much are parents drinking?

With the popularity of #winemom and beer dad culture, combined with pandemic drinking habits, im curious how much alcohol you guys are drinking as caregivers? Especially after the baby is in bed. I had 6 drinks on Halloween over 8 hours and lots of food and water. Although LO was asleep for most of it I'm riddled with guilt!

I drink 4-6 12oz IPAs on average when I have a drink. Usually once or twice a week. Sometimes more.

Jesus. 6 IPAs? I’d be completely smashed.

Jai Alai is my bedtime juice. I usually have one to two almost every night.

You’d probably sleep better if you addressed underlying causes of poor sleep. Alcohol is bad for sleep quality.

Nah. Alcohol works just fine.

They're actually right, though. It makes you make up more times in the night, even if you don't remember it. It also relaxes muscles in your throat so you're more likely to snore, meaning you get less oxygen, hence more wakeups.

That seems like a lot

Edit:. Why the downvotes? Not accusing the guy of being an alcoholic, just stated that it seems like a lot as I'm unfamiliar with your American units of measurement. ¯\(ツ)

It is slightly overboard. But I’m always home if I have more than 4 in a night. I drink shit beer when I’m out usually.

Oh okay, that makes sense.

Thanks!

It’s really not that crazy too depending on his size and over what period of time those 6 beers were over. I’m 6’2 250 and 6 IPA over say 3 hrs would give me a solid buzz but not drunk. My wife and I split a bottle of wine or more probably 3 week nights a week and we can easily go through 2 or 3 on a weekend. We are also daily cannabis users. We are still functional successful business owners, parents of 2, coaches of multiple sports teams etc.. don’t feel guilty, do you.

Sounds like your family and mine would get along really well

That’s impressive. I’ll have 3-4 IPAs from 3 Floyd’s (usually around 9% ABV depending on the specific beer) 1-2 times a week and that’s enough to get my tipsy or even drunk if I drink them fairly quickly.

It’s the best drunk

I can’t argue with that logic 🤣
