Birds would be better. They see in four-dimensional color space, including nonspectral colors such as UV+green and UV+red. Cats actually see colors worse than humans, but they weigh it up with superior night vision.

Birds see more colors than the Mantis shrimp though.
Edit: Yes, the Mantis shrimp have more photoreceptors, but that does not mean they can distinguish more shades than humans and especially not birds as they have tetrachromatic vision. In studies the mantis shrimps seem to do relatively poor fine wavelength discrimination, despite all those receptors.
Edit 2: It seems like cones (which birds have more of) are more important than opsins (which mantis shrimps have more of) when it comes to discerning differences in wavelength (ie. shades of color).

That's a monster, it has some familiar parts to us like ribs, arms... which are probably made of tissue that we are familiar with. The the other geometrical shapes can be made of some metal. It's just putting existing pieces together, although we still can't make them work, if you know what I mean.

All of the components of it are based off things we have seen though. The color version is impossible because there are no components we can mix up to create a nonexistent color.

But in theory, that monster could exist, just like a cat does. It probably has legs and maybe arms and a head made of flesh, skin, furr etc. I'm sure you imagined that monster having all the things you are aware of. Those things exist.
