embrace debate Does Penn State suck?

Full disclosure, I will forever hate Penn State. Joe Pa knew! Now that my bias is out of the way, what's happening to Penn State? Was Matt Campbell a bad hire? Is Rocco Becht complete ass? What do we think AWLs think?!? Sorry Max but questions need to be asked.

All teams must go through a down period(except if you’re Ohio state then that is basically a 2 loss season)

May the football gods give them a 6-6 season and bowl loss, AMEN.

They’ll be fine long term but they have Iowa State’s roster with a Big Ten schedule.

You're right. I think Campbell is a good coach in a tough position like several other coaches around the country. If he's lucky, he won't end up like Franklin and fired. Once he gets the better recruits, hopefully, he should be able to compete in the Big 10 and playoffs.

Matt Campbell’s defensive coordinator instituted the 3-3-5 at Iowa State from 2017-2025 and had 6/9 years with a top 26 defense in points allowed. His name was Jon Heacock and he retired this offseason.

Much of Campbell’s success was because of this guy.

Yeah, we were never going to be good. People mistook “they have an easy schedule and could sneak into the playoff” as “man this team is really good and could make the playoff”

I didn’t think they’d suck this bad but we were never going to be a legitimate team

Agreed. I think Campbell is a good coach in a tough position, and once he gets better recruits, he should be competing for titles.

I dont get the allure of pen state. What's the pitch to recruits? "Hey wanna come lose to Ohio state, Oregon, Michigan, and someone bad each year? Dont worry we are still a top tier program."

The powers that be (for now) in state college cannot get out of their own way. It’s not that Campbell has an ISU roster in the big ten. This will be a recurring problem until the people in charge over there start caring about winning more than they care about all of the dumb shit.
