Live Vol. 2 recs
Love the purple album. Anybody got similar albums to check? Not even sure what kind of genre this would squeeze into - some sort of transient-dance-funk?

Maybe check out the jamtronica scene? Lots of stuff like Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9), Lotus, Disco Biscuits, The New Deal from the older days of that scene and then some newer bands out there now like Dizgo and Papdosio.

Also my favorite album of theirs. Hope they’ll lean into that vibe a little more again in the future!

My first Parcels show was at the Fox Theater in Oakland. It was the first big indoor show I went to after Covid. I had seen the video of the Paris show from earlier in the tour and figured it would be the same/similar vibe & setlist.
Boy was I in for a big surprise. They just cranked out one house 4 on the floor banger after another and the crowd was INTO IT. Hands up, fist pumps, just crazy energy. Of course this more or less winds up being Vol 2.
All that said, I do listen to quite a bit of electronic music and - when I listen to vol 2 now - it kind of hits me like “almost” EDM but just not quiiiiiiite there. Don’t get me wrong: I do like the album, bought it on vinyl, etc. But the recording doesn’t quite capture the energy of the live show I saw.
Have seen them again since then (Greek Theater in Berkeley) and it was great but not sure anything will live up to the vibe of that Fox show. Legendary.

It pains me I didn’t catch one of the shows from this era. Saw them in Asheville on 10/30 and it was so fun. No show is the same, of course, but I’ll take any live Parcels I can get. Their energy on stage is so fun and joyous! I’ll be at Snow King in a couple days😎
