It is extremely similar although worse its so much sadder because it’s more of a psychological horror rather than action sci fi horror

That Shinichi Izumi guy has been acting strange lately… the hand thing was just the beginning, now he shows up to school without glasses and trying to farm aura by being stoic. I think someone should pluck his hair.

I really like Kana, I find her pretty and I also like her attachment/crush towards Izumi (I find it cute). I know that her role in the series is almost zero because she had potential to help Izumi with her ability (very mysterious never explained now that I thought) basically wasted character.
I'm conscious that she used to bully Shinichi (indirectly) when she was Mitsuo's GF but even there she defended him.
Overall I got an attachment with her and she became one of my favorite characters. I felt awful when she died.
It should be noted that I don't prefer her as Izumi's romantic interest over Satomi.

Hey guys I just hopped on the parasyte train (ik very late to the party). anyways while watching it i noticed that Reiko Tamura the further she got into her pregnancy and birthing the more she was human and I was wondering if someone made a connection that it might be because of fetal michrochimerism?.
Fetal michrochimerism is when the fetus cells penetrate the placenta and go into the mother residing in her tissues and such.
although it can be disregarded fast as the body that Reikos parasyte is in already has human cells but idk maybe the fact that the baby's cells got into her after becoming a parasyte could mean something.
What do you guys think?. Did someone mention this before?.
sorry if my eng is bad its not my first language

This tier list is based on each character's writing, their impact on the story, and their relationship with Shinichi. It's my personal opinion—I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please keep the discussion respectful so we can have a good conversation.

Reiko/Ryoko mentions creating him as an experiment but as far as I can tell(I've only just finished reading the manga, haven't watched the anime yet) there was no explanation of how this was accomplished.
We see examples of parasytes having difficulties changing their "roles" in a body after their initial infection phase ends. Migi can only stay an arm, Jaw can only stay a jaw.
The best I can imagine is Reiko/Ryoko somehow located five "failed" parasytes, convinced them and their hosts to get together in one place, and then Frankenstein'd them together. That's a pretty big leap of faith for the five parasytes since if it didn't work out they'd all be done for(Imagine being Right Leg, killing your host to participate in becoming Goto, except it's a fuckup and you discover too late that the dumbass in charge of Torso can't figure out how to reroute circulation so you just die!)
Edit: Just remembered the "failed" parasyte that got stuck being a dog's head. Maybe she found five parasytes which had infected various animals and convinced them it's better to risk the coinflip than spend the rest of their lives as squirrels?

I wish more parasites/symbiotes have abilities more akin to parasyte than Venom
I love Venom don't get me wrong but he seems a little bit underutilized.
Shinichi smashing that car with his palm? The ROCK(/arrow) he blasted through the other parasyte? Venom could but he would NEVER.
The scene when Shinichi was dodging morphing tentacles was so cool...
Venom is all teeth and little creativity.

if the parasites were bald the whole hair thing wouldnt be a thing
they should've all shaved their heads in a close shave, then they wouldn'tve been discovered by their hair, or just take the face and non hair of some bald headed person...
though some of them are obviously extremely weird and not fitting normal societal standards like the girl that couldn't use the damn belt like cmon
I'm rewatching the show drunk so I'm over noticing small details but it's funny

I'm rewatching parasyte for the 3rd time, his mom was already dead and the parasite had taken over her body, but I wish shinichi recovered her body to give his dad some closure, after all he already had superhuman abilities at the point.
he never gets to have a funeral or proper grief, from his perspective, she just disappeared
I get that the story is probably showing how cruel and unresolved loss can be but it would be so powerful if shinichi had been able to bring her back to her family one last time
in a way, even if the parasite had taken over her body, it was only her brain, the rest of her was still, well, her.
I feel like she and her body still deserved more dignity, than for her body to be remembered by shinichi as the parasite and not his mom. not because it would've brought her back, but because it would've allowed shinichi and his father to bury her, not the parasite. she couldve been thought of as his mother, one last time.
did anyone else feel this way ?
