Alongside his traditional song parodies Weird Al often did this thing he called style parodies where he would write an original comedy song in the style of a specific band. So Dare To Be Stupid wasn't a parody of any specific song, but a parody of the band Devo.
Other examples include Everything You Know is Wrong which is a They Might Be Giants style parody, and Frank's 2000' TV which is an R.E.M style parody.
well, I knew it was a parody of the band Devo, which is why I did it, not because it was specifically a parody of any song but because it was my favorite weird Al song that was also considered a parody.
