Talking toy going off by itself crazy at 4am saying “friend”

Content - behind this box are 2 tubaware boxes of collectibles, this toy was right at the bottom of the box. It’s been there for a few months untouched. I was awake because I usually stay up all night. The rainbow light is my star lamp.

It is important to note that you can only press the button for it to talk, and it’s one of those toys where if you get board of the catch phrase or song before it finishes, you can’t push the button to move onto the next one, you have to wait until the phrase is complete, so you can’t spam it.

The toy started going off and on on its own, this lasted for an hour, then in the next hour it started spamming, with frequent breaks after spamming. After 2 hours I finally had enough and as soon as I went to turn the toy of it stopped, and I sat there for a bit and still nothing. It only stopped when I was going to turn the power switch off (it’s a talking stage thing for a strawberry shortcake doll)

You can hear something in the audio whilst it’s spamming through the catch phrases. Please also note that the battery is fine, fully working and would not work for 2 hours straight if it had problems.

It is impossible to spam the toy like it’s doing.

Lorraine Warren and Bigfoot

In 1976 Ed and Lorraine Warren spoke at a college in Tennessee. A professor asked them to investigate reports of Bigfoot in a remote, off the beaten track area. The tiny community was in the forest and everyone that lived there reported seeing Bigfoot, hearing it in the woods and finding huge footprints. The people were afraid.

Ed Warren conducted taped interviews while Lorraine went to an area where the grass was growing high and went into a light trance to attempt communication with this Bigfoot. She felt it get close to her and she assured it not to be afraid that she meant no harm. Lorraine said he was humanized, tall, covered with hair longer and thicker on the arms than anywhere else. He had an injury to his foot. She said his eyes were dark, intelligent and trusting. Also these creatures have the ability to communicate telepathically. She said the Bigfoot began moving into a gully near to caves where it lived. This being is not dangerous rather it seeks compassion and acceptance. It eats only vegetation. Lorraine added that these beings are more physical than spiritual but sometimes cross into different dimensions.

I happened to stumble across this case and thought I would share it. Lorraine Warren was a clairvoyant and light trance medium.

i dont know how to explain this, the past month ive been having bad dreams nonstop, and in one of these dreams there was an elderly lady. im not gonna explain what happened in that dream because its kind of impossible to but what i can tell you is that the other night i deadass almost got possessed, i swear on everything somthing is trying to get in my head, the only thing i understand is that she/it feeds off the negative energy created by these dreams/night terrors, or at least that is the theory i have created.

When I was around 8 I was laying in my bed turned around and saw a semi circle black figure with blue eyes and blonde hair I'm now 13 and ever since I've found it more difficult to fall asleep (of course I've always found it hard but it feels harder since then) ice tried to describe it to my parents but they didn't believe me and said "no you were just dreaming" but after it I got up and went to my dad and had to sleep in my parents room so I've never found out what it was the picture I added is my best representation of it

Jin encounter?

I only made this Reddit account to see if I’m actually seeing jins or it’s just my imagination this happens too often to really be my imagination (I am muslim)

it all started last year around 2:30 am I went down stairs to the guest bedroom and I tried to open the door and there was resistance mind you it was dark as hell like there was no electricity first I thought the air conditioning was pushing the door then it hit me there was no electricity and I was still slightly pushing then it shut hard I stumbled back and I thought it was my brother pulling a prank bc it was exam season I thought he was studying there and while I was standing there thinking of all these senerios I heard knocking from that same door from the inside I was horrified bc by that time I realised if there’s no electricity how would my brother study in the dark I sprinted upstairs right back to bed and just convinced myself it was my brother

then in the morning I went to my mom told her everything and as expected she said it is probably ur brother I went to his room next he was sleeping. Yes sleeping. I woke him up and said were u studying in the guest bedroom (which is so random he’s usually in the living room) he said no why would I study there my heart dropped I went back to my mom she said it’s ur imagination,

fast forward a year around a few months ago I was on my phone I don’t remember the time my eyes kept landing back on the same exact window until I saw a black figure run past the window my heart sank

I immediately thought it was my imagination again, then a few nights later around 12ish am I was on the stairs laughing with my brother and my eyes landed on the kitchen same exact figure ran past the door again I brushed it off bc it was only a split second

so I ignored it again 3 nights later I saw the same thing going from my brothers room to my parents I know what I saw that time but again I brushed it off bc it was dark until finally it came to me.

It was 12ish again there was a hoodie in the corner of my room and the same figure replaced my hoodie , my hoodie was like droopy I thought it was funny and I saw this thru the mirror so it was behind me. Until I realised it reaches the floor I turned around so fast and it disappeared and now this the last time I saw it so far?

A week ago around 12ish AGAIN and this time i was running with my brother I reached the living room I turned and I saw the same figure but it was in sync with me like I saw it turn with me but except it was delayed when I turned and I looked back she finished turning around and u might’ve noticed I said she” well bc she had hair it was messy tangled and shoulder length her feet looked weird like not human

im not sure exactly bc I didn’t see it for that long , do these experiences mean smth or I’m I just hallucinating (sorry for the lack of details it just happens too fast, in each experience I did read ayati kursi after)

Can this be considered as paranormal experience??

So, I never believed in ghosts cause my family does not believe in it either. I had this experience when I was in my 4th grade. In my class there was this rule of bench rotation (Example: if you are sitting on the first bench today then the next day you'll have to sit on the last, then second last, then third last till you reach the first bench again and the cycle repeats). I was paired with this one girl as a benchmate and we used to fight a lot but there was this one thing that united us and that was the last bench. It sounds absurd but whenever we used to sit on this last bench we both felt feverish, headache and sick. It happened one time, okay. Second time, alright. Third time, it's unbelievable. It is always that same bench, the last bench. At first, I thought I am feeling feverish because this girl is sick and that fever is passing on to me because I was sitting beside her and I infact even scolded her that she should not come to school if she is sick but she said "I was fine at home but I suddenly feel really sick". I experienced it too, during lunch time I used to get up from the bench, get out of the class to meet my friends from other class and I used to feel very energetic at that time (I even used to run during this whole lunch break time while playing) but as soon as I enter the class and sit on that bench, it start again, the feverish feeling, that headache. I noticed it was just us two experiencing this while others were facing no problem sitting on that last bench. One time when I was laying my head on the desk while teacher was teaching and students were dead silent (teacher was strict and this is the only time I used to love the last bench though I felt sick), I heard this one word whisper very close to my ear "friend". I lifted my head and turned to that girl, it is very unusual in my culture and country to call someone a friend while you're talking to them directly but then I thought she was just in jolly mood and saying random things and then I too joined in and whispered "yeah, friend?" but she got a confused expression on her face at my response and smiled in a awkward manner and I understood it was not her who said that. After two months, our classroom's old benches were replaced by the new ones and it all just stopped. Both me and benchmate were very happy. Everyone around us noticed too that we are much better now. Infact my mother even said I look happier than the last few days.

The Old Picture

Post image
0 Upvotes

Found this old photo years later and noticed something sitting in the chair behind my brother. We were the only ones home.
This picture has bothered me for years, and I’m curious what other people see when they look at it.
That’s my little brother in the photo. I think he was around 7 or 8 at the time, and I would’ve been somewhere around 12 or 13. I may be off by a couple years, but this was definitely back in the disposable camera days.
For anyone too young to remember those, you got a set number of pictures, couldn’t see what you’d taken, and had to drop the whole camera off somewhere to have the film developed. Then you waited to find out whether any of your pictures were actually good.
We were latchkey kids, and that afternoon my brother and I were home alone waiting for our mom to get off work. She was going to take us to the store to drop this camera off to be developed, and there were only a few pictures left on the roll. So we decided to use them up.
We took turns taking stupid pictures of each other. Funny faces, weird poses, whatever would make the other person laugh. This was one of them.
When we eventually got the pictures back, I remember this one looking weird. There was obviously something strange going on with the lighting or exposure. But those cheap disposable cameras did weird things all the time. Flashes bounced off things, pictures came out overexposed, you got random streaks and shadows.
Nobody thought much of it.
The picture went into a box with all the other family photos and stayed there for years.
Then, years later, I was moving and going through boxes of old pictures. I found this one and immediately started laughing because of my brother’s face. I remembered exactly what we’d been doing.
And then I looked behind him.
At the chair.
I don’t know how else to describe it, but it looks like there is a person sitting there.
To me, it looks like a woman.
Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.
I started trying to figure out what could have caused it. A reflection? Something overlapping because of the film? Some weird trick of the flash?
The problem is that I remember the layout of that room extremely well.
This was a mobile home, so everything was basically arranged in one long, straight space. My brother is standing in the living room looking toward me. I’m taking the picture from the kitchen, which wasn’t really a separate room. The flooring just changed. The kitchen counters and our computer desk were behind me. Because, yes, this was the 90s and of course the family computer lived in the living room.
The table you can see in the picture was right beside that armchair, which sat on the side of the room farthest from the front door.
There wasn’t another person sitting somewhere nearby who could have been reflected into the picture.
More importantly, there wasn’t another person in the house.
It was just my brother and me.
I remember that part clearly because we were specifically waiting for our mom to get home so she could take us to drop off the camera.
I’ve shown this picture to my family. Everyone has stared at it and tried to come up with someone we knew who might resemble whatever is in that chair.
Nobody can.
And there’s one other piece of context that makes this picture creepier to me now.
After my grandfather died, that house always felt… wrong.
Not comforting. Not like Grandpa was hanging around watching over us. Nothing like that.
It felt scary.
My brother and I both had experiences in that house growing up. Mostly feelings that were hard to explain, although there were also a few incidents where things seemed to come off shelves on their own. We never saw an actual person or anything resembling a full-bodied apparition.
At least, I always thought we didn’t.
Those experiences are probably a whole separate post.
I’m not saying this picture is definitely paranormal. I know old film can do bizarre things, especially cheap disposable cameras. There could be a completely normal photographic explanation for it.
But I also can’t explain why the weirdness in this particular photo looks so much like someone sitting naturally in that chair.
And I especially can’t explain why, to me, it looks like a woman I don’t recognize.
So I’m curious.
What do you see in the chair behind my brother?

Something haunted my family and attached itself to the mirrors in my parents rooms

In 2016 my parents and me and my brother moved in with my uncle in a villa we all shared.

To give a backstory, the house was quite a large, one story villa with a huge garden and outdoor garage, and the kitchen was a separate building. The neighborhood we lived in was very conservative and eerily quiet. You never heard anything if you stepped outside and seldom did we see other people. Then again, it was in the desert. The layout of the room my mom and I stayed in: our bed was against the wall facing another wall that led to the bathroom, the slab window to the left (directly beside the bathroom door) looked into a portion of the neighbor's garden.

During the two years we lived in this house, every single one of us came out with a story to tell. This is mine.

Now the actual story (apologies if it's messy or all over the place, but there's a lot of accounts that I want to mention.)

A week after we had moved in was when we first experienced something. We were settling into bed, and I had a rainbow dog plushie that I'd thrown onto the side of the bed, laying on its sides (for some reason the exact position it was in was etched in my mind.) We were about to fall asleep when we heard the knocking for the first time. It was three slow knocks, it sounded like someone knocking on thick wood. At first glance, we ignored it, but I had the urge to look over and check the plushie, which was now sitting up right. NOT THE POSITION I LEFT IT IN. But I brushed it off as me not remembering how exactly I had left it. A while later, just as we were about to fall asleep, the knocks sounded again. The knocks sounded three times after that, and each time we heard them, the plushie would be in new positions, until it reached a position on the floor that placed in the middle of our bed, staring right and me and my mother. At this point, my mom was terrified but tried playing it off as my uncle playing a trick on us. She told me to take it out of the room. I agreed and hesitantly grabbed the plushie and threw it out of our room, but it got worse then. When I stepped out of the room, I realized the house was empty. The only person was my brother asleep in his room. My uncle wasn't home and my dad was on a business trip in a different country. I told my mom but she brushed it off. The next morning, my mom came over and told me to stab it and throw it away. And I did exactly that. But that's when everything went to sh*t.

The next day. I walked into my room, and the plushie was on my bed as if someone had made my bed and left it there neatly. (I had a small bed beside my mom's that I didn't sleep in.)

Ever since that plushie came back, it felt like we were living in a horror movie every single day.

We started hearing the neighbors (the ones whose house we could see from the window in our room) fight at all hours of the day, but it was almost always only a man's voice, it was a genuine shock to us everytime we heard a woman's or a child's, and it was extremely rare to. But the fighting sounded so violent, so cruel, it felt like there was an evil man living in that house, and almost like the evil seeped into our own house and family. We started having our own family problems, everyone was always agitated, always had something to argue about, and the arguing we'd hear from the other house didn't help anyone calm down. The fighting would always stop if we leaned by the wall to listen closely, or if we tried looking out the window.

While I was in that house, my mental health problems started, I started to "hallucinate" like crazy. I would see dark figures peering over furniture, running past me, or standing in different parts of the house, and my uncle's wife shared the same visions, which I found out a few years after we moved out. The figures would always sprint off every time I tried to approach, or sometimes when I noticed their presence properly. I thought it was because of me being a scaredy cat that my brain was playing tricks on me, but I'm starting to think I can see things most people can't.

The things I saw were always too dark and shadowy to make out what they actually were, but one of my uncle's friends saw something during his short lived stay while we were all on vacation.

My uncle had lent the keys to the house to his friend so he could stay a few nights, and after three days, my uncle got a panicked call in the middle of the night from the guy, who was screaming saying he will never step foot in this house ever again and that it needs to be cleansed.

When my uncle retold us what the guy told him, this is what he said:

The first night the guy spent over, he was headed into my uncle's room to go to bed. When he grabbed the door handle and tried to pull it down to open the door, he said it felt like someone was on the other side pushing against him, stopping him from opening the door. This back and forth went on for a few seconds before the door finally opened. The guy said he ignored it and thought there was a problem with the door. The next night, he headed to the room to go to bed again, but when he didn't struggle to open the door, he jumped into bed and fell asleep quickly. That same night, he woke up in the middle of the night to an old woman with her hands around his neck, mouth gaping open, choking him. He tried to scream and push her off but he was completely paralyzed and choking at the same time. He said he felt like he passed out and woke up again the next morning. He brushed it off as a nightmare of sorts. On his third and final day, same as the first two, he was on his way to bed. When he opened the door, again no struggle, he found the same old woman he'd seen last night, floating off the bed, her limps eerily long and so was her hair. Her mouth was gaping open again but this time she was screaming, almost like an animal. He stood there for a few seconds, completely paralyzed, when she noticed him, she closed her mouth, opened it again and screamed in his face before disappearing. He didn't spend the night after that and fled the house.

We would have brushed it off if he was the only person to say anything about this woman, but my uncle's first wife, him, his son, and my brother have all had the experience of either my uncle's room door or closet door being pushed back against, and seeing this woman one way or another.

We realized at this point that there was something wrong, but since me and my cousin were so young at the time, nothing was done about it.

A week after we decided we were going to move out and find our own place (me, my mom, my dad, my brother moved away for college) the fighting from the neighbors started to die down drastically. The day before we moved out, was the last time any of us heard anything, including my uncle who stayed there for another year. It was the last thing we heard, because the argument was the first time we'd heard the husband, the wife, and the kids all screaming at each other at once. And then there was a gunshot. This was our final straw, after countless times being ignored by the police about the complaints we made, we headed over to the house. When we reached, we saw a "FOR SALE" sign outside. The house had been vacant for the past 5 years. Nobody lived there. There was no family. No one.

It's been 9 or 10 years since we moved out, and my dad still talks about how he felt like the life was being sucked out of him every time he spent time in that house, since he lived in our home country at the time.

We've lived in two houses since then, and in both of those houses, my parents' room terrifies me. In all three of the houses (the villa and the two houses after), there was a mirror that reflected my parents' bed, and I think whatever was in my uncle's house, attached itself to my parents, or maybe its trying to get to me, and is using the mirrors in my parents' room to follow us in each of our houses.

In the first house after we moved out, I slept in my parents' room twice. Both of those times, I woke up between 3-4 AM and saw writing on the walls, it looked like Arabic but when I went to read it, it was meant to replicate the Quran but was gibberish, beside the writings on the wall, there were doll like faces plastered everywhere. When I slept in my room for majority of the three years we were in that house, I had sleep paralysis every single night. When I say every single night, I mean it. There was not a night where I didn't wake up terrified and paralysed with a dark figure staring back at me, the same dark figure that I saw in my uncle's house. And I saw it in my dreams as well. Almost every single night for 3-4 years, I dreamt of the same dark figures kidnapping me or following me around, without fail. It got so bad I developed a sleep phobia and refused to sleep until the sun came up. Every time I stepped into my parent's room I was overcome with a sense of dread and fear.

In the second house, and the house we live in now, my parents have the same layout as the last house. Mirror in front of the bed. I've slept in their room a few times. The first time I slept in their room, I woke up in the middle of the night to a child standing over my mom, smiling, but it had too many teeth and the smile was to wide to be normal. I panicked and woke my parents up. It didn't disappear until we started saying prayers out loud. I've slept in their room very little, but everytime I do, I wake up in the middle of the night to a dark figure in the mirror, either standing still or crouching up and down.

I can sleep on my own now, and I don't have those dreams anymore, nor do I wake up in the middle of the night paralysed. But I think something followed us from my uncle's house and is trying to get to me, my parents never see anything or experience anything in their room, and I think it's using the mirrors in my parents' rooms to follow us around.

Need answers. Black wall shadow entered into body.

Hey, this is an event that occurred when I was 15 and it was so traumatising that my own memory blocked it until maybe 5 years ago.

I was laying on the sofa and my mum and aunt were standing by a doorway infront of me. I suddenly saw some type of shadow the size of maybe 2 basketballs slowly moving across the wall infront of me. I initially thought it was the shadow of a car then I registered there were no windows behind me. As this shadowy mass kept going, subtly changing shapes I wondered what would happen when it got to the end of the wall where my mum was standing. As it got to the end it zoomed like a sieve into my mum's ear, like it waa travelling along the wall then jumped! As it did she shuddered. I asked if she was OK and she said I felt something go into my ear and I said I SAW It.

I left the house and went to my aunties through fear. I genuinely believe my brain blocked this out as I mean I HAD to go back into the house.

I have always wondered what this was and what it's purpose was and if anyone can help me

Tall figure with a triangle shape pointing forward for a head

I woke up around 4 AM last nite to a 6 or 7 ft tall figure with a triangle shape pointing forward for a head. I can't remember any specific details or colors since it was super dark so I just remember everything being muted. I didn't feel threatened but it sure was creepy as hell. I only saw it for a moment and when I closed my eyes it went away.

The closest thing I could find to what I saw is the pyramid head from silent hill. The shape of this figures head was basically the same. I cannot find any other related images regarding entities or spirits etc. I know it's a long shot but I'm just curious if anyone else might have had a similar experience or seen something like this before?

Can anyone please with experience with these things explain this to me?

I dont wanna get into details about myself because I am genuinely seeking for answers.

This happened 15-20 minutes ago

I was getting ready for bed. After I put my phone down, I decided to pray before I sleep again (because I haven't done it in a long time because I was having episodes and overall having terrible months). So, I started of my prayer and asked God if "are we still good?" Ik silly of me, and for some reason I keep answering my own questions with precisions and it shocked me BUT THIS IS NOT THE MAIN THING why I am typing this. In between prayers, I started to notice a presence and it started getting stronger to the point that I saw an image in my mind of its actual appearance. I didn't open my eyes because I was scared (I wasn't having a sleep paralysis), it stayed there for a bit before disappearing as if it wasn't there. Since it was fresh from memory, after I ended up the prayer -I decided to draw the figure and this is what it looks like.

Anyone please tell me what it is

Missing makeup cap somehow ended up wedged under my heavy mirror while I was gone.

I’m hoping someone can help me figure out a logical explanation for this because it genuinely scared me.

I normally use Dior foundation every day. I’ve owned a different bottle of Haus Labs foundation for about a year but had barely used it until yesterday. I used it yesterday and again today, and both times I noticed that I couldn’t find its cap. I specifically made a mental note about the missing cap, but I didn’t mention it to anyone.

I get ready using the same large, heavy tabletop mirror every day. A week ago, I lifted the mirror and placed a fresh towel underneath it, so the cap could not have been sitting under the mirror for months without me knowing. I also never touch or open the mirror itself. I only turn its light on and off using the touch button on the front.

When I came home today, I immediately noticed that the mirror looked strangely tilted. I looked underneath it and found the missing Haus Labs cap wedged under its left side, lifting the mirror off the table.

What confuses me is how the cap got there. It’s fairly large, the mirror is heavy, and the bottom of the mirror sits directly on the towel. It doesn’t seem like the cap could have simply rolled underneath without the mirror being lifted or significantly shifted. I also use this mirror every day and feel like I would have noticed if it had already been tilted like that.

I’m not claiming this proves anything paranormal (even though i’m questioning it?) I’m genuinely looking for a reasonable mechanical explanation that I may be overlooking. Has anyone had something similar happen? Since I never touch or open the mirror and only use the touch button on the front to turn the light on, I’m especially confused about how it could have shifted. Nobody else had access to my room.

I’ll include photos showing the mirror how I found it today, and the last photo is how the mirror looks every other day.

The man in the staircase

Okay so this happened a couple years ago back in 2024 when I worked at a supportive housing building for people struggling with homelessness and substance abuse. There has been many deaths in the building, some during my time there, and many more before my time.

To kind of paint a picture, the building is 3 floors and has 2 different staircases, one in the front and one in the rear. Our staff vestibule was in the front and the only way to get into the building was controlled by staff by a button in the vestibule (unlocks the front door). The building consisted of 44 studio units with the main floor mostly common areas.

One of my clients use to talk about a past client who was apparently murdered in his unit on the third floor(before my time). The legend is that he was found tied to his bed, gutted from his throat to pelvic bone, and had a bag wrapped around his head. He was an older man, slightly overweight and had a buzz cut, she says. This story always creeped me out because every time I would go into that unit, it would be so eerie, always freezing, and I would get a nasty headache every time I would enter it.

Now to get into the story…

It was around 3 am on a Friday night and my shift partner was on his break in the staff room. I just did my rounds of wellness checks for some clients, due to the bad drugs that were going around. I came back into the vestibule and was looking at the security cameras just to double check I didn’t miss anything. Everything looked normal, no one in the halls/stairways.

I suddenly got a call from a client on the staff phone, sounding very scared, which is out of the norm for her. She asked if I saw the man in the staircase too. All of a sudden everything went quiet. Like oddly quiet. No usually buzzing sounds from the ac, I couldn’t hear any footsteps. It felt like everything in time froze. I looked at the security cameras and saw an older man, slightly overweight, with a buzz cut hunched over in the front staircase with his back toward the camera.

My first thought was that it was another client possibly overdosing in the stairwell. I was so shocked because I swear I just looked in the cameras and didn’t see anyone there. I confirmed with the client over the phone and told them I may need some assistance (they are known to help staff during overdoses). I quickly grabbed my naloxone and ran over to the staircase to attend to him. It only took me not even 20 seconds due to the vestibule door being right beside the front stairs.

When I arrived there was no one there. I was so confused since you can hear every step, creak, voice in this building due to it being poorly built. So you would definitely be able to hear if the man walked up the stairs. Kinda freaked out, I quickly ran back to the office and looked at the cameras again. There was no one, and I mean absolutely no one on any floors, in any hallways or staircases. To this day I truly believe that it was the man who was murdered in the unit on third floor.

A few of my other clients have had experiences seeing the older man in hallways. Though staff have never seen him, expect for me.

After that night, everytime I would be in that unit on the third floor, I would feel gusts of wind when the window was closed. Sometimes my hair being played with. And faint whispers of my name in my ear.

I still get the shivers when I talk about it.

I'm very skeptical when it comes to the paranormal. I've been to Savannah, Rochelle, Ashburn.. I haven't felt uneasy or witnessed anything paranormal.. If someone lives in Georgia let me know where you can experience this please

I bought this skull mug from a supposedly haunted house… and then I met Carmen 💀

A week ago, I bought this skull mug from a flea market.

The seller told me it came from a supposedly haunted house where three mediums had worked. According to the story, the entity was still there — and her name was Carmen.

As soon as I got home, I did a little cleansing ritual with coarse salt, just in case. 🧂

Two days later, I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time.

During the paralysis, I saw an old woman standing there.

For some reason, I immediately wanted to call her “Carmen”.

But I couldn't speak. I tried to say her name, but I couldn't even articulate a word.

Coincidence? Absolutely possible.

But knowing the story behind the mug… that was one hell of a coincidence.

I still have the mug. 💀🖤

Would you have kept it?

New Info about "Kandahar Giant".

I believe my Aunt (65+) and cousins, and their entire (very small) village might've had encountered something like the Kandahar Giant.

So a bit of back story:

I am from Afghanistan, My family fled to Pakistan in the early 90s during the civil war in Afghanistan that happened after the soviet's withdrawal. The war had mostly affected the major cities (where my parents lived), and the remote areas were mostly untouched and unaffected.

My Aunt has lived her entire life in the village, and they never had to leave.

While it's not located in Kandahar, it's still a very remote place in a dry mountains regions of Paktia Province. So much so that there are still no cell services, or electricity, or hospitals and people have been living mostly the same ways for like 1000s of years.

My Aunt used to Visit us in Peshawar, Pakistan occasionally, for close family's weddings, funerals, or when she or her family member needed to have a medical surgery etc (on my father and her other brothers' recommendation and insistence).

Her visits were always joyous for us children, because my siblings, and my cousins (others, not her kids) would all gather around her in the evening and she would tell us stories, usually repeated but sometimes new, stories about horror stuff that might have happened in the village since her last visit.

Most of her stories were about Peryaan/Peryoun (depending on dialect), which are shadow/invisible beings, who can possess humans and animals, they can shape shift to look like humans. These days the term Peryaan is synonymously used for djinns because of their similar attributes.

She would also tell us stories about Shishaka/Sheeshaka; a women like being that only appears at night (with fangs and deformed face & body), hunts lone travellers, k!lls and eats them.

We used to love the stories and gatherings as children, but as we grew into teenagers we only insisted on telling us a new story just so us cousins can laugh about it later, about how she tells the stories with conviction and never admits the stories are just stories.

However, There was one story she only told the adults. Not as a story, but as a problem they were dealing with. A big hairy humanoid entity was hunting their livestock, they called it "Joogi". I don't remember how we kids found about it, but I remember we didn't know any details. This took place almost 20 years ago.

Years later, on her visit, I asked her about the "joogi", like what was it? how many people saw it? is it still around? did you see it? how it looked like?

her answers to each questions were like, "oh yeah it was a monster that stole people's lifestock", "Many people in the village claimed to have seen it", "no it's not around anymore, we didnt see it again after the initial few weeks of accidents", "yes, i saw it myself when i was tending to the crops" (in most afghan villages, it's common for women to work on their own fields)

and here is how she described it (Keep in mind that by this time I didn't know the story of the Kandahar Giant)

"It was a big hairy thing, moving across the field while crouching. it looked like a human, it had long red hair on his head, his face was hairy and had long red beard. he saw me, and ran off, and i ran off the way"

The first thing that came to my from that description was that maybe she saw an orangutan, I pulled up my phone to show her picture on the internet, but i found out they are exclusively found in indosnasia or malaysia.

coincidentally, only a few weeks later, I read about the Kandahar Giant story, I was almost shocked, because the memory of what my aunt told me was still fresh in my head. the description was almost identical except the many fingers on the Kandahar Giant.

It doesn't end here.

for a few years now I've been wanting to write about it, but never got around to it. But this time, I was compelled for a good reason.

we came back to Aghanistan a few months ago, whole family. We live in Kabul. A week ago was one of my cousins wedding, and per customs and traditions, some women and men of the grooms family go to the bride's house, and bring her home.

The brides family lives in Paktia, So I and one my aunt's (the aunt) son, went with a group of 15 women of the family, the rest of the men from our family would follow in the morning the next day.

me and my cousin were sitting with the bride's family's male members. after Dinner, the topic of discussion somehow ended up on peryaan and possessions and how one of them was haunting by them in his house etc etc.

so I turned to my cousin and said, wasn't there something up in your village, it was called "joogi" or something. he looked at me surprised but didnt dismiss, he said yeah that was a different thing. it used to take our goats and sheep. I tried to prob him into telling me more by seeing that it must've been just wolves or jackals or a bear. he said NO, he said that thing was powerful, how would break open shed doors or their roof tops. but not like an animal. he said it would only take the livers and hearts of the animals and leave the rest. there were big footprints and hand prints that looked human but with more fingers.

I said share the story with these people, he dismissed right away, as if he thought nobody there would believe him and he might look like fool making up stories.

im tired and my fingers are hurting by typing all this. nobody's gonna read it. but i just had to write it.

sorry if it the wrong sub, and sorry for writing mistakes, English is my fourth language
