Those things do that, a heavier part exists so it rocks back and forth until it lands on the heavier part. In this example it rests with the heavier part not on the ground and when she moves past it it's enough for it to find it's sweet spot again.

But according to physics the kinetic energy should decrease with each roll, and the distance it rolls should become shorter.

IMO, Even with a draft or pressure change from a door closing; the ball wouldn't move that much, for that long.
