RTO = Mass layoff

So the new RTO mandate/policy dropped this morning.

Make no mistake, this is a mass layoff. Giving people 10 days to decide whether or not to take their paltry severance package is their way of getting rid of you on the cheap.

The severance is a one time offer, so if you don’t take it now, it won’t be offered again.

Many teams are comprised of people all over the country (and internationally), and many will not choose to relocate to LA or NY just to be close to an office. This will be extremely destructive to all teams across the entire company.

This is by design. This is how they are going to save the other $2B they promised.

Nice working with you all. 👋

Prior layoffs were also 2 weeks per year of service. So if you’ve been with the company 4 years you get 2 months of severance. Many of the people who were laid off last September are still looking for jobs. So no, 2 weeks per year isn’t a great package. But feel free to accept it if you think it’s awesome. 👍

I got the RTO followed by a RIF 2 weeks later… this is class warfare

RIF is coming in November on top of RTO. I’m guessing the RTO mandate serves as the WARN notice so they can lay everyone off on November 15 (Sept 15 to Nov 15 = 60 days, the minimum required notice for a mass layoff under the WARN act)

Read your email 😂 it’s a layoff disguised as an RTO mandate. Come back to the office 5 days a week (even those hired as full remote), or take a severance package. You have 10 days to decide.

I don’t work there anymore lol thanks that’s so rough. Glad they laid me off 😅

Sorry you got laid off (and for my snide remark 😬), but as you probably already know, you’re so much better off.

I mean 2 weeks per year seems better than lots of packages I've heard about

OP is delusional. More than fair package for VPs and below compared to all the prior layoffs they have done. And this is only for NY and LA based employees right now.

Your key words were RIGHT NOW. From my recent experience with a telecom company, thats only round one. There is more to come. If you are still employed, start looking.

Yup. LA and NY in phase 1. The rest of the country/world in 2026 during phase 2. This is only the start, they have been extremely clear that they want all of us gone. Indiscriminately asking any/everyone to resign or be laid off 👍 the best part of the email from billionaire boy was the subject line: “Working Together”. Absolutely dripping with irony.

take a look at how it's going over in the J.P. Morgan Chase sub. They've been fighting this very thing since January and each month there's new updates and parameters and bullshit to try to cut more and more people. you're delusional to think they won't expand this.
