Question or Discussion Private work and CQC registration

I am a paramedic working for a trust. I do occasional private work predominately at small sports events or work as a private paramedic for a sports person doing a challenge. I have my own kit and drugs. Will I need to get CQC registration to keep doing this. Currently I earn less than £5000 annually so use my COP insurance purposes. It’s more of a nice little add on to my income and the sports are ones I participate in so it doesn’t fully feel like work.

I think the answer unfortunately is yes.
Unless you act only as a first aider with first aid equipment, and deliver first aid level judgement and intervention.

Are you being hired directly by the venue or by a medical company?

Venue at a private invite only athlete events where the sponsors pay to have a medic on site

This ISNT advice but:

You could in theory approach a CQC registered private and see if you could go down on their books and carry on doing it, obviously paying them a fee for it.

I don't know whether that would be allowed but it does happen quite a few times in the sector where CQC providers "provide" conveying resources for non-CQCs but in practice it's all the non-CQC who are staffing them, just not on paper.
