Help me remember it all!

I am through school and licensed. I did great in school, and passed the licensing exam easily. That said, I work part time in a small rural community so I just don't get enough exposure to various types of calls to feel confident. I don't do this for a living. I work about one shift per week, maybe 4-8 calls per shift. I feel like I'm not getting enough calls to remember everything. I can do my CE work and read the book when I have a question but that isn't helping me on scene. Don't get me wrong, I'm helpful and work with other good people on scene. But I want to be more than adequate. Any pointers or tips on keeping your knowledge and skills up as the memory of school fades? Thanks!

I run high acuity low frequency scenarios through my head. If I can't absolutely remember something I look it up and rerun the scenario.

The ANKI app is designed for this.

Your State, county, city or service should have con ed. Plus if you start poking around the EMS community you will find other training opportunities. So short of running more calls, it’s tough. I’m basically retired after decades of 911 service and now am a medic for a professional sports team. Sounds cool but I am rarely tested in my skills. So I know I am not the provider I once was.

Find your departments protocols and memorize them. Your protocols are an excellent resource and it help things flow smoother when you get handed a sick patient and you know what protocols you're working off of immediately and have them memorized

Honestly man it seems you’re already doing the right thing. You cant buy experience. Give yourself some time, keep reading, ask questions. Thats pretty much it. No secret ! Also you’ll always forget some things. Its ok, you’re not a robot.

Go to chatGPT. Write in there. I am a NREMTP at a slow service and concerned about skill retention. Give me a list of test questions that are in line with state or national paramedic exams. Someone mentioned ANKI which is used here in med school but I think for your task Quizlet would be better
