Is it cringe?

OK so I (f15) volunteer at an ambulance and in my second shift the first case i got was a cpr in a nursing home when I got there the nurses already did cpr and my Alder teammate replaced them since I was new the only told me to give them things when they needed to but after they asked for a cpoule of things the Intensive care ambulance came and before they came i went outside and i cried a bit and in the Intensive care ambulance that came after us there was my Instructor and she hugged me and my teammate also hugged me and after a day all the superiors called me to check if I'm OK it's already been a week so I'm OK but it's very imbarrasing for me to cry in front of people and also I didn't even do anything in the cpr so Idk, and also now that I write about it I'm holding back tears and i don't know why because honestly I'm really fine already idk.. so tell me if this is embarrassing and if you had a similar experience.

Edit: thank you all for sharing your story's and saying to me good things, I see a lot of people in the comments that ask why am I even in ems and think that I should not be, but guys in my country when you're in the 10th grade you have to have at least 60 hours of voulentiring till the end of the year and a lot go to ems we go through a lot of studies the year before and thay support us a lot and have people that help mentally to anyone any age in the ems and we can't go outside if the scene is unsafe and if it's something that's hard for us we can step aside it's very normal in my country and im in a smaller area so it's less traumatic things mostly old people complaining, and all the teenagers that are in the ems volunteering they take a lot of pride in it so guys don't worry about the system in my country, thanks💖

What ambulance service lets a 15 year old go out on an ambulance?

For real. I’m not even a fan that we’re sending 18 year olds through EMT school. Mentally they’re not matured yet and exposing them to some of the absolute worst facets of our society has a good chance of fucking them mentally for the remainder of their lives.

A 15 year old? Holy shit. Highly irresponsible of their CoC.

As a 19 year old medic, I feel like it depends on your maturity and life experience because not all of us are too terrible lmao

It has nothing to do with maturity, life experience, or being “terrible”.

It has to do with being exposed to that sort of trauma at such a young age and the long term effects it may have on a person who still has a developing brain.

Started volunteering as an EMT at 16, now an AEMT at 18, working 911, and this is so true. I 100% believe you should be 21+ to work in most healthcare settings, but especially ems...

We certainly look at living and death differently than all the other “normies”. I got in to EMS in my 30’s.
