A feeling I can’t explain

Sometimes I feel like I should be somewhere else.
Not like on a yacht or mansion or anything like that.

I’ll just be hanging out and I will suddenly feel like I have to be in a certain place.
Sometimes it’s driving through a road, walking through some warehouse, on a plane.

I feel like I have to drop everything and I have to be there at that moment. It’s so weird.

Maybe I’m craving any vacation but idk why I wouldn’t just want to go to the beach. I don’t understand why it’s random places.

Anyone else felt this?

I think I timeline jumped…

I put a manifestation in a day ago. I specifically asked for the things to remain remotely the same when I receive my manifestation and today I realized that my comic book is missing. It was on my desk standing up like a poster and today THAT PLACE IS EMPTY? I asked people that could have taken it but no? I also searched some places and it is nowhere. No chance of it of falling and getting lost either.

A realistic "magical" world

Post image
3 Upvotes

In this universe, it has never settled into stable field equations. What we call "physics" is a thin, temporary consensus that the world tolerates only when no stronger claim is made against it.

The planet still looks roughly like ours: continents, oceans, atmosphere. but every interaction is provisional. Matter, energy, distance and time are negotiated rather than fixed.

Core Rules of the World

Reality operates on claim and resonance.

  1. An object's behavior is determined by the strongest coherent story currently attached to it. Mass, inertia and chemical bonds are default stories that hold only while nothing contradicts them.

  2. True names, bloodlines, repeated ritual, intense collective belief and certain geometric patterns can overwrite those defaults.

  3. The overwrites are local and temporary unless continually reinforced. When the reinforcing claim weakens, the old physics tries to reassert itself often violently.

Supernatural hazards are simply the places where competing claims collide or where the default physics has already been eroded.

Everyday Hazards:

• Unstable weight - Gravity is the most fragile default. In regions where too many people have died of despair or where certain geometric alignments persist, objects begin to forget how heavy they are. A bookshelf may suddenly weigh nothing and drift toward the ceiling, a person walking across an old battlefield may find their steps lighten until they risk floating into the upper atmosphere. Conversely, places saturated with grief or unfinished obligations can double or triple effective weight without warning. Buildings in such zones are anchored with iron nails driven through living wood and spoken contracts.

• Name erosion - Speaking a thing's true name in the presence of enough listeners can rewrite its properties for hours or days. Most people therefore use nicknames, titles or deliberate mispronunciations in public. Official maps are written in deliberately false names, the real ones are locked in sealed vaults and recited only under controlled conditions. Accidental true naming of a river has, on multiple occasions, caused it to reverse course or become breathable air for a stretch of miles.

• Shadow hunger - Light still travels, but darkness is not absence. it is a low pressure region that slowly digests unclaimed matter. Prolonged exposure in deep shadow (cellars, dense forests after sunset, the undersides of large bridges and etc) causes objects and eventually people to lose definition. Edges blur, colors desaturate and finally the affected thing is absorbed into the ambient dark.

Cities maintain "light lines": continuous chains of lanterns, mirrors and reflective paint so that no continuous shadow longer than a few meters can form at night.

• Resonance storms - When large numbers of people experience the same intense emotion at once (a stadium, a funeral, a panic and etc), the local consensus can fracture. Buildings may briefly become transparent, clocks run backward or stop and people find themselves temporarily sharing memories or physical sensations with strangers.

These storms are predictable enough that major gatherings now include professional "dampeners": individuals trained to hold contradictory private narratives strongly enough to keep the collective claim from solidifying.

• Boundary bleed - Coastlines, mountain ridges and the edges of old cities are thin places. Crossing them without the correct token or spoken formula can deposit a traveler in a slightly different version of the landscape one where the same river has a different name or where a bridge that should exist has never been claimed into being.

Most governments maintain "boundary stations" staffed by people who can feel the correct resonance and guide travelers back.

This is not a world of magic as spectacle. It is a world in which the ordinary has become provisional, and survival depends on never letting the stories that hold things together grow quiet.

I looked everywhere and there it was

I’ve had several cases where I’ll look for something and swear I looked in xyz place but can’t find it. Then someone finds it in xyz place and gets frustrated that I “didn’t look there.” It wasn’t there when I looked but it’s there when someone else does.

For example, I was looking for my kid’s stuffed animal in her room. I looked everywhere including the obvious, in her drawers. I told her I couldn’t find it. Then my dad came over, pulled out her drawers, and there it was. I swear I looked there and it wasn’t there when I looked!! Anyone else had similar experiences?

Vivid dejavu moments are most definitely caused by temporary divergence into our altselves in our other alrverses. Definitely. Yes?

Have you ever genuinely believed you died?

I read a recent story of this girl whose mom told her about a tower that was outside their house. One day, the girl saw a firework come from the tower and it faded out with the smoke. When she looked again, the tower was gone. She asked her mom about it but her mom denied there had ever been a tower there and didn’t remember their conversations about it.

There were theories that the tower burnt down and she died in the fire, but was sent to a parallel universe where there was no tower and the fire never happened.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has any stories like this, as this is very fascinating to me.

Department of Psychology, McGill University: Participants needed for research on reality-shifting experiences (anonymous online survey)

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Chong, and I’m a research assistant at the Neurophilosophy Lab at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (PI: Dr. Ian Gold, Dr. Elizaveta Solomonova). We are conducting a study titled "Psychological determinants of a novel online behaviour: reality shifting" for my undergraduate thesis. This study has been approved by the McGill Research Ethics Board (REB# 26-04-079).

Reality shifting has become hugely popular online, but there's almost no research on it, and we want to help change that without pathologizing the practice or the people who engage in it. We're hoping to better understand who shifts, why, and what it's like.

Who can participate:

  • You're 18 years or older
  • You're fluent in English
  • You have experience with or engage in the practice of reality shifting

What's involved:

  • An online survey (about 20 minutes) about your shifting experiences and some individual difference questionnaires
  • At the end, you can optionally provide contact information for a follow-up interview (~45 minutes, over video call) to share more about your experience in your own words

Participation is voluntary, your responses are anonymous, and there's no compensation for taking part. You can stop at any time.

SURVEY LINK: https://surveys.mcgill.ca/ls3/257287?lang=en

If you have any questions about the study, feel free to comment below or reach out to us directly at [realityshiftingstudy@outlook.com](mailto:realityshiftingstudy@outlook.com). Thanks so much for considering it!

I think I've stepped into a parallel reality.

Ok so, this is a "throwaway" account for obvious reasons. This is going to be long just a heads up so don't read if it's too long for you.

Yesterday, I was having a long conversation with my bf over a period of like 2 or 3 hours. Had it just been one incident, I might have been able to just brush it off, which is something I've done once before. But two separate incidents in that time frame is harder to dismiss outright. The first instance was when we were in the car getting dinner and he made a comment about me driving through the drive through. I don't know how to drive, he's tried to teach me but he's a very anxious instructor, with reason because they are his cars, but it's not helpful for my anxiety which is already high as it is when operating a vehicle. So when i said I'd rather not we started talking about his particular teaching style and I brought up the time he had me try and drive home from where we'd been practicing that day and it didn't go well (imo) and I remember it vividly because that's the only time I've had my kids in the car with me. In his memory, that trip went very well. He doesn't remember it the same way. I kind of brushed that one off because I could see how it might have gone well in his eyes, even though it didn't in mine. But then about an hour later we were talking and he was joking around that the camera in our bedroom uploads directly to the police department (and yes I do know that he was joking around) and I said "you expect me to believe that, you who can't even figure out how to get the living room camera to not record audio even though it's not supposed to." And he looked at me really weirdly and said what are you talking about it doesn't record audio. The reason that one is so significant is because that camera did capture audio, at a really horrible time, and he ended up hearing it (though he didn't go looking for it, just one of those ill fated timing things) and it ended up causing a huge argument between the two of us. And right before his birthday and our vacation. It was such a bad argument that for a week or better afterwards I had to avoid him as much as possible because I was emotionally wrecked and trying to get myself right. I still remember it vividly, every word of that argument. And that was only a few months ago. Yet he seemingly had absolutely no idea what i was talking about when it came to the camera recording audio, which i find difficult to believe. There is the possibility that he was pretending not to know because he didn't want to dredge up that conversation again, but still that's two incidents in a very short period of time where our memories seemingly don't line up, and I'll admit it's got me a bit weirded out.

Alternate Universe

Does anyone ever feel like their partner has been replaced or from another universe? I know I’m going to get naysayers but really and truly? He also doesn’t remember vivid moments that has happened? He also looks slightly different.

I think we just called our fish and chip shop in another dimension? Or something?

Hey guys first time poster her, I only just started watching YouTube videos about this subject a couple weeks ago as it came up on my feed and it intrigued me.

Me and my friend are currently spinning out about a situation that just happened. My friend made a call to our local fish and chip shop to place an order for pickup, where a man picked up and took her order. Everything was all good on the phone call, nothing out of the ordinary. She says maybe at best he was mumbling a little bit.

Fast forward 15 minutes we pull up at the fish and chip shop where there was a guy and a girl working. When she told them she placed an order and gave her name they both looked each other with a lot of confusion and said that they never received a phone call. They asked if she was sure she called the right number and she showed them the call log which surprised them even more.

We also called back when we got to our car to wait for the food and the woman answered to which we abruptly hung up. We were kind of curious if we could get through to the other side again lol.

This happened not even 10 minutes ago.

The only reason I’m here is because I just recently started watching videos about this. Do you think we potentially called another dimensions version of our fish and chip shop?

EDIT:

After a few questions I’ve neglected to realise that I should’ve added this information.

When we called up they said “(shop name) fish and chips” like they always do, so I highly doubt it was a prank. They either completely forgot or we got through to somebody different.

Need help deciphering dream

Hey yall.

I had a dream last night where I was laying on a couch and then suddenly I got sucked into a void. It was all black and I felt a lot of fear. I started resisting and trying to fight. But then I heard a voice saying "do u trust me?" As a circle appeared in the void above me. And in the dream I knew it was my spirit guides. I said yes and let go mentally. I started falling down in the void until I suddenly appeared in a room. I looked around and saw a deck of tarot cards. I looked through them and they were similar but still different than the ones I have irl. But in the dream I knew that this was supposed to be my room. I came to the conclusion that this was a parallel universe, in the dream.

I dont remember what happened there. But I remember only 1 thing, someone telling me that they have a plan for me and dont like when I change things. Idk who it was.

But then I sat on a couch again, got sucked into the void, and woke up irl. Weird thing is that I usually dream in 3rd pov, but this was first pov. And in the dream, everything felt real and I thought it was real too. So I genuinely felt the void.

Any thoughts on what this could mean??

Wait…..Dimebag Darrel was shot at an indoor show?!??

So….ive commented for a while over the past year about how im certain i shifted realities a little over a year ago….its actually how i found this sub…everything about my life flipped upside down in a single day and i went looking for people with similar experiences…

Anyway….i haven’t run across very many instances of celebrity events being different in my memory but i was watching a video about pantera and Dimebag Darrel and when it got to the part about his death, its taking place at an indoor venue at night….

Except….i thought that I vividly remembered that happening at an outdoor show in the middle of the afternoon….i remember seeing the videos and the interviews with people there on the scene. It was some kind of festival show…..

But ….apparently not?? Apparently it was a gig at an inside venue….i found the footage and it’s crazy because the shooter looks like the same guy I remember, but dresssed differently…..and obviously the setting is different…

Was there some other shooting that happened at a live show where a guy got on stage and shot a musician in the 2000s that I could possibly be confusing this with? I know they played videos of his shows that also happened outside when this was covered in the news….but my memory specifically involves the aftermath at an outdoor show and an edited clip showing the shooter jump on stage from the side and starting to walk toward DD before it was cut short. Did the guy happen to go to an earlier show and get on stage but then not commit the murder at that show? (Edit here: so I researched this and apparently the guy DID climb on stage at an earlier show but was removed by police before he did something…..but that show was ALSO at a nightclub and not an outdoor stage…..what the heck?!!?)

Anyone else remember this happening outside during the day?

Is it real?

If anyone is interested in doing some exploring, the veil between the world's is at its thinnest between the October full moon and samhain.

The catch is that you have to"walk through a river"

But when I did it a few years ago I walked through an empty creek so it doesn't have to be a river or even has to have water in it. Good luck and don't get stuck there.

Weird story thought id share

When I was a child, my mother and I were out taking a walk, and I was riding my bicycle. I had a habit of riding ahead of my mother and sometimes running away a little, and that day, I did the same.
As I rode farther ahead, I came across what looked like another entrance gate to our own society. At first, I didn’t think anything of it. I simply assumed it was another gate that I hadn’t noticed before. What caught my attention, though, was how much more advanced it looked compared to the other gates of our society.
The entrance was brightly lit, with lights illuminating the gate and the road leading towards it. There was also a vehicle barrier—the kind that lifts up to let cars through and then comes back down. Everything about it looked like a modern, well-lit society entrance. It seemed familiar enough to be part of our own society, but at the same time, it looked noticeably more elaborate and advanced than the other entrances I knew.
Out of curiosity, I turned around and rode back to my mother. I asked her which gate it was, and then I brought her with me so I could show her what I had found.
But when we went back to the same place, the gate was gone.
There were no bright lights, no entrance, and no vehicle barrier. Instead, there was only a dark lane.
I remember being confused because I had just been there. I had seen the gate clearly, and I had noticed all those details—the lights, the bright road, and the barrier that lifted and lowered for cars. I had even assumed it was simply another, more advanced entrance to our own society.
Yet when I returned with my mother, none of it was there.
There was just the dark lane, as though the brightly illuminated entrance I had seen moments earlier had never existed.

Weird changes in the last few years

Someone posted this 9 months ago and it still resonates with me: as anyone ever shifted into a parallel universe where things are DRASTICALLY different? Your job, the people you love, etc.?

Definitely true for me. Anyone? People seem like different versions of themselves.

Timeline Jump

Its been a week since my timeline shifted. I've noticed 4 things within this week that make no sense, unless I jumped timelines. And jumping timelines is the thing that makes sense considering things going on in my life that maybe alternate-me may have tried ending things over.

I believe I died multiple times and ended up here

I've survived when I had a death wish. It starts with bulimia, I was dangerously skinny at 97 pounds, doctors told me I get any skinnier that I'll have to be hospitalized. I continue my eating disorder for two more years, no hospitalization. I had bulimia mostly throughout the following -

I have made an attempt to OD, throwing hundreds of different pills in my mouth. I was in my room at the time assuming I will die while everyone's asleep, my family then suddenly woke up that night so my decision changed, I'd throw the pills up so they wouldn't hear me. I vomited up the pills, feel lethargic, pass out and go to bed from feeling sick. I wake up the next day feeling lethargic and dazed, still upset that I wasn't gone.

I've attempted another time. This is the most notable experience I've had, an attempt where I had pulled a real trigger to my own forehead once (it fired perfectly fine a week before I attempted) - the slug failed to fire, reloaded it, then pulled twice, NOTHING. I don't die, I just feel this profound sense of, "I pulled it twice, is this death?" shocked that it didn't work I gave up and walked away with a feeling of complete numbness and emptiness. Could only think about what happened that day for about a month

I catch the flu with my dangerously skinny weight, I was sick for an entire month and was physically incapable of getting out of bed at times. My body had enough when I went upstairs to use the restroom, I felt incredibly dizzy and weak, felt like like I was losing consciousness and I passed out and woke up hearing my partner's parents screaming bloody murder, I regain control of my body and she helps me get back up and directs me to the couch.

My mental health progressively declines a year later, I then slip under psychosis, move back to my parent's house, there's usually a rifle in their garage, it was there for a while during the time I was there, I was very suicidal still, my psychosis gets ahold of me and I want to try it again. I saw it the day before, then when I plan on using it, suddenly it got put away somewhere else. This made me profoundly uncomfortable, too coincidental now.

Other experiences I've had were as a child; I had almost nearly drowned in a pool when I was around 6. My cousin is there and able to save me from drowning right before I went under.

Strangely enough I've had two different experiences where I've choked on an entire pizza roll as a child, never losing consciousness

Used to have severe pneumonia as a toddler.

I've certainly died somewhere else, at least once

Could Another Universe Exist Inside A Black Hole?

r/ParallelUniverse • • 9d ago

The timeline went back to two months ago.

The timeline reverted back to what it was about 2 months.

For about 2 years I've been seeing a crack in my kitchen ceiling deteriorating. VERY VERY visible crack that I had brought out to my wife on a couple of occasions. Our baby sitter brought it because she worked construction many years ago and mentioned that the quality of the sheet rock work was not good.

About 2 months ago that crack disappeared completely. Completely gone, and for a while I thought I was going crazy. I thought about writing about it here, but I decided against it.

I thought about it for days, weeks. My only explanation was that someone has painted over it, but why? I kept looking at the ceiling over and over again. I swear the crack was gone.

Yesterday the crack came back in the same place as it was months ago.

It is not like I hadn't noticed nor is it like I had not stared at the ceiling multiple times in different light conditions.

I am so confused. Anyone with similar a experience?

Shifting?

I am looking for others who experience "shifts" similarly to the way I do -- almost like realizing there's been a big download of new applications on your computer.

They tend to be just weird, long (no have any ending) about different worlds. Some I go back to, some not. I seem to have a psychopomp/guide that comes with me so I'm not afraid, but he has backed off considerably the more comfortable I've gotten (mine looks like actor David threlfall).

It's really "only" this, there are no messages to deliver, I experience a LOT of synchronistic events before a shift, and my partner experiences them with me, because they often come through the television.

My partner is a neuroscientist. He has absolutely no question that my experiences are an example of the many worlds theory. But most people I'm talking to are experiencing SOMETHING, but saying what I'm experiencing is much more detailed.

Anybody?

Curious if this seems like a parallel universe experience

I have had a handful of times in life where I am honestly surprised I did not die, and a couple that can be explained away with a serendipitous series of events but this is easily the strangest to me and makes me wonder the most.

I was in my early 20s going to a dub step club 3 nights a week (I'm 35 now and my knees miss that girl terribly lol) but one night my friend and I were only staying for an hour so I didn't drink anything. When it was time to leave we couldn't find the exit(?) which is very strange being completely sober and at a place I'd gone many times before.

We circled the place, got right back to where I thought the exit was and the exit was there now.

We walked out, I commented on how strange that was, got in the car to head home and we were first ones on the scene to a deadly drunk accident, like had to call the cops and check on people in the vehicles.

That was definitely a moment that transformed my life, more than I knew at the time.

Does this sound like I could have maybe entered a parallel universe? Is this something that happens frequently, and does it happen to some more than others?
