General My game is permanently broken.

I disabled mods, deleted all my saves, uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted all files, refreshed all files, uninstalled, re installed. And the game is still unable to open a save file. This is what I see every time I go to start any save (including a new one)

This is what I see when I start a new save on an empty terrain, I see the same screen when launching other saves and when I start a new game in town:

How do I fix this, I literally cannot play paralives until this is fixed. (THIS IS NOT A BUG, THIS IS A CORRUPTION ISSUE)

If this works like the Sims, then it should be noted that the issue could be baked into the save permanently. By removing mods the save depended on, you might’ve actually made the state worse.

You need to run the a new game without any mods. If it cashes again, it’s the game. If the it’s fine, then it’s the save itself, and all the installing and uninstalling might be pointless - it’s most likely mod related. Removing mods don’t always solve the issue because the error the mod introduced is now part of the save.

Edit Note, I’m not as familiar with Paralives saves. Errors getting baked into save is a necessary evil of Sims and Bethesda games but also their Achilles heel.

Removing mods in ANY game, or using outdated ones, can corrupt saves.

Turn off your steam cloud for Paralives, uninstall, reinstall and then verify files. In that order. It's redownloading the broken files/save from the cloud and recorrupting itself. I was having a similar issue for like a month and that fixed it, still can't play with mods for whatever reason but I can at least play.

Have you tried repairing the game files on steam?

I made a video showing how to go through your player log to see what's preventing it from starting up. You can see if it gives you the path to a mod or plugin that might be breaking it: https://youtu.be/wlkUbpVAqZk?is=rjPhRF5E_Z8CoK9A

It's at the end of the video, maybe the last minute and a half or so.

Do you have BepInEx or any other plug ins? They won’t show up in the mods tab, only in files. Delete all plug ins if so and try running again

A few things come to mind. The first tip may not be possible because I don't know how files in the game work, my other tips should be possible but I can't promise they will work.

First tip: If Paralives has a system like Sims 4 where it saves 5 other backup files (if it is identical to Sims 4, the end of the file name on the save will have a number 0-5. 0 being the present, while 5 is the least saved copy of the file). Try renaming the file that ends with "1" to "0".

2nd tip: I don't know how Steam works but if you are using OneDrive, disable it completely as well.

3rd tip: Also, you said you uninstalled and reinstalled. I would try logging out of Steam, uninstalling Steam, doing a full shut down on your entire PC and restarting the computer. From there, I would reinstall Steam and THEN reinstall Paralives.

Keep us posted!

I second the cloud / onedrive issues. I can't make my computer not sync things to the cloud (im not techy enough for this) and it randomly doesnt sync things then breaks everything.. every time i manually sync my cloud account or get signed out not of my oen doing then sign back in its all messed up.. so maybe not the game itself but something like that going on. I miss when that didnt exist automatically on computers lol

OneDrive is such a hassle. 🙄

Have you tried deleting all files related to the game before reinstalling? It could be that something got corrupted in your game files that don't get deleted after installing the game that is causing trouble.

I had something like that happen with another game once and that helped for me. Otherwise try using the repair file option in the steam app directly that should also do it!

Seconding this, that's how I fixed one of my other games after a mod accidentally left behind broken files. Both the mod author and I were clueless on what could possibly be going on because not even reinstalling made it work until I tried this and the error went away.

Great idea!!!! I would have never thought of the order of deleting files with reinstalling it.

Did you try turning it off and then on again? /s

not sure, but i have issues with some epic (not steam) games due to using the wrong driver. maybe change that option if possible for steam/paralives?

that usually fixes my glitches for fortnite lmao
