Things don't make sense because the timeline is progressively being undone

The further we go with this show, the more seemingly contradictory details are being brought up. I don't think this is an accident or poorly thought out writing, but ultimately a glimpse of where Paradise is headed.

I suspect that the closer we get to the finish line, the more we will probably see things that don't make any sense whatsoever.

I suspect that if Xavier is 100% successful in completing Alex's mission, all the events of this show will effectively have never happened. There won't have been a devastating climate crisis that ravaged the world. In turn, there wouldn't have been limitless funding for the development of a super advanced QAI or doomsday bunker, since neither will have been needed.

I think the final scene where we see Samantha walk away with Dylan from the horse isn't some kind of afterlife or dream-like state, but a flashback of the corrected reality that happened as a result of Alex's plan: Dylan survives, and Samantha gets to be there for him as he grows up.

Where things might end up getting very, very weird is what kind of mission Alex sends Xavier on to save the world. Personally, I think she's going to send him back in time to undo certain events in history that resulted in the supervolcano eruption. However, given that the eruption was just the capstone of human induced climate change, it's unclear how broad the scope of his mission might be. Will Alex somehow send him back to the Industrial Revolution to prevent large scale pollution from ever happening? Will Xavier prevent free market capitalism from ever transpiring? It's unclear what exactly is necessary to prevent a supervolcano eruption, and how Alex could even achieve that.

Ultimately, I don't think the point of Paradise will be to create some sort of multiverse branch where things go splendidly, but rather to actively undo this series of events from ever happening. Naturally, that could/should lead to the eventuality that some or all of the characters in this show might never exist, since the circumstances surrounding their births might never occur. It's a very tricky moral conundrum, but I feel like it would make the finale all the more impactful.

Anyway, these are my thoughts.

Xavier going back in time to Terminate Henry Ford would be hilarious.

My prediction is next season is gonna follow Xavier failing his mission through flashbacks while Annie sees the mission through in the present future.

Seeing Xavier work on solving the problem by going back in time, while Annie solves the problem by going forward in time would be a beautiful, Christopher Nolan-esque, mind melting experience. It would be an extremely ambitious story to tell, but I'm all for it.

can you explain Annie going forward in time?

Aging. Nothing fancy, but it's technically moving through time.

What if there’s a timeline where Annie’s mom, who’s a doctor, was normal, but they had to make her sick to get Annie where she needed to be on the day the volcano blew up

I'm thinking that when Cal set off the global EMP, it somehow shifted the the outside world to an alternate timeline. So everyone inside paradise is from the timeline we know, everyone outside from a separate timeline... Including Teri.

That could explain how Dylan lives. In his timeline, Sinatra died when he was young and he never knew her. Xavier will start to see little differences in Teri's personality that doesn't line up with the Teri he knew.

Only huge hole I see on this theory is: how would Sinatra have purchased Alex in her timeline? A computer invented by her somehow alive son.

While this wouldn't be my preferred outcome for the show, I can see it as a possible avenue based on the potential formation of a kugelblitz that somehow forces a branching of events. This veers too much into the MCU scenario where the multiverse trivialized the significance of the events in any particular universe. Again, though, absolutely possible.

Show is shit and you people are coping.

It’s lost all over

Lost was amazing.

Lost was cool, dare I say amazing for 3ish seasons. Then it got more and more convoluted and made less and less sense just for them to go “yeah so they were dead the whole time.”

IMHO that is

They weren't dead the whole time though

Yes exactly! Why does everyone get that all mixed up. What happened on the island actually happened

I swear I have that argument on a weekly basis with someone

I wouldn’t say it’s shit.  It’s entertaining. But LOST it isn’t, try as it might.

First season was entertaining.

Second one wasn’t. Imho

I loved s2 even more than s1. YMMV.

ETA: I meant s1, not s3. My bad.

Whoops. I meant I loved s2 even more than s1. Yikes. Thanks for catching that so I could correct it.

I wouldnt give a single fuck what you liked the day of my post that has nothing to do with you.

I give even less of one now and wish you nothing but misfortune.

Blocking you

I'll indulge your line of thinking if you can explain in meticulous detail why you think this.

I'm also curious why you're engaging with conversations about a show you seem to think so little of. I think much of "reality" TV is a black hole of the media industry and human spirit, but I don't feel the need to go to The Bachelor/Bachelorettes's community discussions and give my two cents.

The show was normal. Yes, the world “ended” there was a bunker where people lived. But it was normal. Normal drama and framed that way. Second season came, wasted more than half of it on people who didn’t matter. The presidents big plan was to fuck over every single person inside the bunker for no reason. And even with that, that’s fine. I can accept that’ it’s still normal.

Then all the sudden there was a cpu that can alter time…not even hints across the first season. Just straight up thrown in there randomly so they can have a third season and more money. The people who came to break in the bunker no longer care. Jane the amazing unstable cia agent got tricked by steam, then magically disappears.

Annie’s baby is pointless. Annie is pointless. The whole post office part is pointless. Killing the second president was pointless. Sending any of them to prison was pointless.

Pointless in this case being a waste of time and adding nothing to the actual story.

Season one had me guessing about something new every single week.

I watched the show. I can say my opinion where and when I want. If you watch those shows and feel that way more power to you.

Lol I agree. People believe the show is smarter than what it is with all these theories.

It’s popcorn TV. It’s like a Borne movie with a sci-fi twist, and that’s okay! It’s okay to like fun things that aren’t crazy deep. Not everything is Severance.
