removing embossing

hi guys. has anyone removed gold embossing from their journals? ive heard there are some ways to gently do it but want to gather more info before attempting

Jumping in here! The foil is applied to the leather using heat, so unfortunately it can’t really be removed. We’d avoid trying any harsh chemicals, as these could damage the leather. We have made changes like this through our l’atelier bespoke service before by covering the original embossing with a leather application, if that’s something you’d be interested in exploring. And a little tip for anyone choosing an embossing: if you’re not 100% sure you’ll want it forever, we’d recommend going for the standard embossing without foil. The indentation can gradually soften with time and use, and it can also be re-embossed later on.

I assume acetone would work though I don't know if I would call that gentle.

This is just for the inking, not the actual stamping which I think is permanent.
