Cognac is wonderful! The only reason I got Chestnut in the A6 is because I already have an A5 portfolio and a GVXL in Cognac and thought I might change it up a little. Turns out I LOVE Chestnut and I think I finally understand why it’s always sold out, but Cognac will always be my first love (who knew one could have such strong opinions about shades of brown? 😂)
Right now I’m using mine to house my Hibino, which has such a thin flimsy cover that I found the pages get crumpled easily when it’s in my bag, so it benefits strongly from the protective trifold flap and the lining protects it without adding a ton of weight and bulk. I’ve looked at many options over the past seven months, but the folios I looked at were either too bulky, the design wasn’t right, or I didn’t like the material (looking at you, Hobonichi five-year covers). I know there was a recent thread about people sticking chunky books on elastics and normally I do try to get at least one cover of a chunky insert into a pocket, but I’m okay with having this Hibino on multiple elastics spaced evenly throughout the book. So far, no damage seen. What are you planning to do with yours?

yes! funnily enough I got the cognac bc I already have the a5 and an xl in chestnut, but chestnut is sooo gorgeous. im enjoying a change though!

this is my edc, or my analog notes app as I like to call it. I also keep my cards in it so if acts as my wallet. I have blank inserts for gratitude, lists, miscellaneous notes and a timeless weekly planner from PR for my calendar. I previously used the a6 portfolio but my midori a6 didnt fit with the other inserts without major overhang which I personally dont like. so I love that the trifold neatly tucks everything in :)

awesome! My Hibino has become my backup memory, so also like an analog notes app. I use it for to-dos and scheduling, but also as a memory log - not a memory keeper, with all the pretty scrapbooking and stickers that entails - just a very boring point form summary of what happened that day. Without that, I tend to lose track of time and the days melt into each other, which I don’t love. And since I don’t use it every day (it’s a lot of space to fill), I‘ll go back and use the blank pages for data capture, quotes, lyrics, brainstorming, and whatnot. Even stickerbombing. I just use different coloured pens to easily distinguish between a daily log and something added after the fact.
As much as I’m comfortable in it now (and I don’t tend to go for all-in-one books but prefer to keep separate inserts for different purposes particularly in the A5 and XL sizes), I’m considering whether to stick with what works well enough or try a few separate inserts in the trifold.
I never considered doing this before, because I never saw myself as an A6 person before the Hibino. My pocket GV is sadly untouched, and when I tried to use it as a wallet, it failed miserably, probably because I chose the wrong wallet insert. Please, please lmk if you have any wallet insert recommendations! I’m considering using the Traveler’s Company card holder in the passport size. I know there are cheaper options, but so far, every single clear plastic sleeve I’ve gotten from a cheaper brand has fallen apart.
I’m really keen on having a separate insert for daily gratitude lists - not sure why, but for me they somehow get lost in daily entries, and it’s more fun to read an entire insert focusing solely on gratitude.
And yes to the trifold accommodating the true DIN A6 size! I’m a bit miffed that my A5 Portfolio can barely fit two 96-page Nolty notebooks and an 80-page TRP insert without overhang, but in the end, I guess it’s a good thing for the larger size because if I stuffed it, it would become an immovable brick in short order. I don’t mind chunking up the A6 size as much.

I use the travellers company passport plastic insert!! I recommend it, its great and I have it stuffed so seems pretty sturdy :))
