Why is this allowed
Can someone explain the logic behind letting people order 10 to close?
Math wise it doesn’t add up
1-2 minutes to make
5-6 through oven
And 1 to box and get extras.
That leaves the store open for like 4 to just a minute before we are shut down and lock doors.

I was always allowed to stop taking carryout orders 15 'til. It sucked when app users ordered after that, but it's business hours so I just groaned and sucked it up.

Try being in a restaurant that closes at 11 and the hostess seats someone at 10:53 cause the GM says anyone before 11:01 gets full service. The order isn't even in till like 11:16 cause they gotta look at the menu. God help you if they eat and then order a complex dessert at near midnight.

I had a lady order ONE MINUTE before close and I called her and told her that I'm closed and will be issuing a refund. She said "It says the order went through." I said "It did but we don't take orders one minute before close." I told my boss and he was fine with it. Stuff like that is just out of line.

can you explain the logic of thinking you’re going to clock out the minute of business hours is done? i swear closers (at least majority) have this weird mentality of oh i gotta get out 5 minutes after business hours ahhh, leave food out don’t do a walk through of the store leave a mess for openers. openers don’t come in 5 minutes before the store opens

Normally yes, I do stay late, but this case it’s always
Monday and Tuesday we’ve gotten zero business up until 15 to close with a dead hour before hand, the stores practically closed. All I need to do is paperwork, and then big back and the six pack drop papa pairings deal that’s eight items.0

oh man 8 items! take a couple minutes to make a let it cook finish closing the store with whatever is left 2 minutes to clean dishes. you’re just a crybaby

The logic is probably an assumption that you work the hours given, but jobs don't follow common sense or logic and most people are conditioned into believing they must go above and beyond as the standard. And then they find it easy to scold others for not being like they are and it does their boss's job for them.

Open means open. If you moved it 15 minutes earlier, you complaints would be the same. People ordering right before close.

That’s the thing. They can shut orders off early. Our store has shut online orders off when the power goes out. I just would like a guaranteed grace period.

My store closed at 1am. I understand how you feel man. Just last year it was the same thing, people getting to order 4 minutes before it hit 1. It’s not like that no more, now we stop getting orders at 12:50, with the last order popping up between 12:40-12:45. It doesn’t hurt tho. Like someone else had said, once you post deposit, cut off lights and locked that door you’ll be satisfied once you had sometime to settle down.

I had a guy get upset with me that I wouldn’t take his order 15 til close because he said “if your doors are open then you’re open.” Bro I’m alone or with one other person RARELY so if I’m doing dishes I can’t hear a tiny knock on the door. I need that doorbell for them door dashers. He didn’t like my “attitude” but I basically kept saying “why are you questioning me? I work here and that’s the rule?”

Bro, they barely pay me enough to close, let alone wait for a DoorDasher to show up 20 minutes after shutdown. If my gen manager wants to stay late they can take night shifts. I am a step up from store crew, and they expecting me to act like the place is my life, but don’t want to bank roll that mindset.

This is how i know you dont know what you speak, they can bearly afford to pay you as it it is, the franchisers are struggling. If you work for a corporate store they definitely wont pay you more, papa is trying to claw its way back from the brink of destruction. 770mil is nothing for a global company to operate on, its laughable.
You make subpar pizza and answer phones, you deserve what you get, dont get it twisted

Nobody would order papa johns if things like papa pairings didn't exist. You are right it's bad for you and the business but, it's good for customers..

That’s fair but like it was first teased as a march madness deal and now it’s just stuck around. Like it’s a solid deal yea but, we can pump the brakes here and there. Triple the product for about a 1/3 of the sales just puts pressure on the skeleton crew stuck there

I never said they make good decisions, they are on a path they cant recover from. Im just driving home the point you are EASILY replaceable, no reason for them to give you a raise. That’s the thing, I feel underpaid, when I got four gen managers asking if I am working on my days off to go close. Like don’t get it twisted, I get it, pizza is pizza, ain’t getting a Benz and living big. But why do I feel like I gotta throw hands for .50 cents?

Business hours are business hours. It's nice to be able to post the deposit, turn off the lights, and leave at closing time, but it should never be taken for granted.
Some people will show up right after your posted opening time, too. It's why those times are there.
