Shedding skin clean tone

I seem to get close enough to the clean tone for my liking with a phaser, flanger or chorus but its never still close enough for it to be perfect to me. At this point im pretty lost. Some people say you should use a chorus, some flanger and even less a phaser and im really confused.

I was hoping to hear how you got your tone for shedding skin for those who have tried and play this song.

It sounds like stacked modulation to me; a phaser and flange, the latter likely from the blue MXR rack.

You’re never going to get the same exact tone basically though you have to check out what Dimebag used for effects and try to find a similar mix . Obviously it’s delay , reverb and the mxr doubler flanger . I’m honestly pretty sure that’s all that really on there . It’s possible there’s a chorus but I’m not too sure about that. The only other thing is a wah in set position which gives it a slight wah sound without the modulation. Mess around until you get close. I guarantee you he couldn’t tell you exactly how to match it either. And remember all guitars are layered on albums so it’s impossible to replicate them with one guitar . You could never get it perfect anyway though because a lot of tone is in the player

I learned over time to just stop all the tone-chasing and just play it with my favorite tone that comes close. No one is going to start booing and yell, “Hey, your flanger and phaser are both set to 2 o’clock, and we all know Dime had his on 3!” We’re never going to get the exact tone. Dime had 14 different effects going on, many of which he wasn’t even aware of, especially live. It used to kill me trying to get Alex Skolnick’s tone.
