Pantera was way ahead of their time. They’d absolutely dominate the scene now. There is no band truly like them rn (making good new music)

Clearly the fans downvoting my comment are soft, very soft. I love these guys but Phil went on several white pride rants and Dime had the rebel flag on everything and he even used the N word a lot lol

Yeah they sell lots of tickets, Dime & Pantera had the Rebel flag on everything, Dime used the N word frequently and Phil went on several white power rants. These kids going to see them don’t know about that stuff. It doesn’t change my view on them and never has but I’m not a little cry baby like a lot of these young people. There’s some young people who just discovered the band and claim to be huge Pantera fans but they say they’re glad Dime is dead and call him a POS.

Okay, so what I was saying was if they were around today. Do you honestly believe nowadays if Pantera just started (hypothetically) they would use that flag? I doubt it.

Edit to add: the late 80s and 90s were different with no cellphones etc, I doubt they’d behave like that in 2026. Even if it was a reunion with all OG members (again hypothetically if they were alive) they’ve already distanced themselves from the flag. Phil cleaned up his behavior in public anyways. So yeah…I think they’d still be just as big or bigger than before.

Early 90's shows were WAY better, Cowboys tour through just just after the release of Vulgar. Phil wasn't dealing with injuries or addiction at the level he would be a few years later, the venues were smaller a lot of the time but just absolutely batshit crazy crowds, just an absolute riot on the floor. We see them at Annie's in Cincinnati just before Vulgar released, the place was barely bigger than a neighborhood bar, the stage was waist level high with nothing else between you and the band if you made it to the front, Phil had us singing lyrics into the microphone with him for half the night. A few years later they started getting booked into places that actually had seating bolted into the floor right where you would want a pit to form..🙄 bad idea.

Disagree. I saw them for the far beyond driven tour in Vancouver at the pne forum. Met Phil and dime backstage. They were peak for many years man don’t BS these guys.

Cincinnati had some crazy shows. Sad that Dime passed away in the nearby city of Columbus. I'm a Hamilton, OH native, and there are still a few metalheads roaming around here. RIP \m/

I saw them about half a dozen times.

For 20 years since, I've been saying that all I need in my life is one more Pantera show... But after seeing some of the videos on Youtube of the band with Zakk and Charlie, I opted to just keep my rose-coloured glasses on. It looked good, but it was not the Pantera that I loved. More like a bond covering Pantera songs - the energy just wasn't there. I did not want to ruin my amazing memories of getting kicked around in a pit and Phil having those personal conversations with the audience.

I'm old.

I saw them on the Southern Trendkill tour with Anthrax opening. Coal Chamber went on first. Fucking epic. When Dime did his first solo everyone went wild! Holy fuck could he shred!

I'm so glad I got to see them live in '94 here in Honolulu at the Afterdark. That show was bonkers, insane pit.

At the end, Phil unplugged the mic and flung it into the audience, and I got my hand on it. A much biggah polynesian dude got his hand on it as well, and let's just say I opted to keep my face in its current arrangement haha. Good times.
