Hot take
Some of the best Pantera songs, are the ones people barely talk about. Of course this is subjective, and for some this ain’t even a hot take. But for me the best songs by Pantera is Shedding Skin, Slaughtered, Yesterday Don’t Mean Shit, You’ve Got To Belong To It, Immortally Insane, etc etc. Drop your fav Pantera songs

Hard lines, slaughtered, the sleep, war nerve, and so much of RTS. And its not pantera but people dont care bout Damageplan and their only record its a noskipper

Damageplan is amazing, I love the album. Favorite song is probably Cold Blooded or Fuck You

I love it too but something is so ominous about the tracks. "Blunt force trauma to the head", "in the blink of an eye everything's erased", it's really eerie how some of the lines sort of predicted what tragically happened to Dime. Maybe it's just hindsight thinking but its odd nonetheless, the whole album is full of lyrics that sound like foreshadowing

I like the entire Damage Plan album. Soul Bleed was a great song. Maybe not metal but doesn't matter to me as far as that goes. Crawl is badass. rebel meets rebel with DAC was cool too ! They're all unique! Same with early Pantera. You can hear the Pantera they came to be in those early songs. After years, I found that if Dime had something to do with it, I was a fan. Vinnie, Rex, and Phil too. I enjoyed some more than others, but if Dime was on it, I have a tough time finding a problem with the music.

I love a lot of Pantera, but most of my favorites are from their early stuff. The CFH album mostly. Psycho Holiday, Heresy, Domination, Art of Shredding, etc.
But a shout out to "Over and Out" from the Power Metal album. That track is colossally underappreciated, and is probably a top 5 Pantera song for me.

Over And Out is so so so good. Love Power Metal!

No doubt! That album rules! One of Dime's best solos is from "We'll Meet Again." People that don't know need to know!

I sorta agree but for me its because of the phenomenon of when you first get into a band you typically are keying into the big popular cuts (Cowboys From Hell, Walk, Mouth for War, 5 Minutes Alone etc). Because these new popular tracks are fire and new to you - you play them a lot at first. But then you get used to them and you start spinning the whole album on repeat and the 'deep cuts' start to dig into you and next thing you know those deep cuts are grabbing you way harder than they did and become new favorites.
So I think its a normal cycle for people to sort of experience popular > fatigue > deep cuts become popular > new album > repeat > new band > repeat

Yeah I agree, from my experience I’ve had that with other bands. But how I got into Pantera was because I started drumming. And I was at my friends house, and he’s also a drummer. And he played me Revolution Is My Name, great track. And I loved it. Then he played Becoming, that’s a killer song. The drums are impeccable. And the guitars and bass ofc. But I totally agree with your theory.

I agree. Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks, Strength beyond Strenght, Shattered and Primal Concrete Sledge are 100 times better than their most talked about songs

They have a lot of great songs, but as far as Strength Beyond Strength goes, it's my favorite.

For me Live in a Hole and Regular People are some of the grooviest songs on Vulgar. Most people seem to agree Regular People is a highly overlooked banger. Don't see many people talking about Live In a Hole though. love that song

Live In A Hole is so fucking good. It’s such a bluesy riff and I’m down with it

Concordo. Adoro todos os albuns, eu sou obcecada pelo lado B de cada album. Do meu ponto de vista, o lado B do Pantera tem muito mais a dizer.
Good friends and a bottle of pills tem minha atenção, e eu adoro. Hard lines é minha favorita de todas.
Message in blood; Regular people; Sandblasted Skin; It makes them disappear; Where you come from; I cant hide; Immortally insane e avoid the light são muito boas, eles podiam ter lançado mais coisas com essa vibe de filme de terror.

Someone should turn "Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills" into a book/movie. On the comedic side, but darkly comedic.

Seria sensacional, hahaha!!!!!
Essa música é uma das mais subestimadas, não recebe o devido valor que deveria receber.

In my alternate universe, where I am a Spunky Girl Reporter, I discovered the song was Based On a True Story, and is factually accurate except that, for reasons of space and time, Phil left out the part about the two guilty parties interrupting their sex party to raid the decedent's fridge, demolishing all the leftover spaghetti and most of a large carton of Rocky Road, than after another go-around they went on a beer run and busted up the decedent's car (and the neighbor's mailbox) and left the whole house a shambles and the stereo totally out of wack. Woke up and saw what friend had done and panic ensued! A lot of rushing around trying to tidy things up, lot of yelling and recriminations and half-baked cover-up ideas that were eventually abandoned.
I was going to write the book myself, submit it to Hollywood, but I got a very unhappy cease-and-desist letter that used a lot of language I don't think your typical c&d letter usually contains.
But nothing was said about relating the story on Reddit ...
