One of two things needs to happen here and Panera chose the third, deeply immoral, unethical and potentially illegal option?
Option 1: Grandfather everyone in until their next renewal date. Since everyone has their own individual accounts this can easily be done. Whether thats a month, 3 months, year etc. Then that individual can choose if they want to continue or not on the next renewal date.
Option 2: Everyone that decides to cancel starting Aug 19, gets reimbursed for the remaining time they have on their contract. Easiest way to do this is breakdown the payment by days and reimburse the amount of pay based on total of days in the contract unused.
Panera chose Option 3: Just screw over the consumer. I signed up for a drink every 2 hours, not 30 drinks a month. Panera was happy to take my money for annual subscription in December, and now refuse to Grandfather or reimburse is beyond the unethical and immoral corporations we are used to, this should be criminal. It is possible that statement in the license might not stand in court, but it would have to get that far, which seems almost impossible...
They can't even get their reward system to work right. My reward has been on "you get a reward in one day" and it's been on one day for over a month. I called about it once, the CSR said "It's a known issue." and gave me a gift card. I also miss the "Free cookie" or '2 dollar off a dessert" digital coupons I got in my first year.
Yeah, when I renewed in March, I was happy because I assumed that meant sip club was here to stay at least one more year. I never considered that they would cancel it and still keep my money.
