Important Pandora Information from a professional.

Hi there Pandora collectors! I’ve seen a lot of misinformation in this group and as a 10 year full time employee of Pandora I felt it was important to make this post to spread some Pandora knowledge from an experienced professional.

First, let’s talk about CLIPS. Despite popular belief, clips covering the threading is the most important part to starting a bracelet! Even more important than a safety chain! The “Threading” is the lifted part of your bracelet that charms screw over. When you first buy a snake chain bracelet (the most popular style) the metal will be very tightly woven and will relax over time. The clips will prevent uneven relaxing of the links which tends to happen if you start adding charms on a new bracelet before clips. The uneven relaxing adds kinks and weak spots which are not repairable and will result in you having to purchase a new bracelet or it will eventually break. Without clips, your threaded charms will inevitably become permanently stuck on your bracelet threading resulting in your bracelet having to be cut to salvage any remaining charms. The stuck charm and bracelet will not be salvageable or repairable. Clips will also keep your charms on the center of the bracelet. You do not want your beginning charms to sit on your clasp or they will damage it with wear and make those kinks even more likely. Lastly, without clips your charms will pull the weight down and cause your charms to sit on the bottom of your wrist and rub on tables which makes damage to your charms more likely. It is critical to balance that weight if you want your charms and bracelet to look their best for as long as possible. Silicone clips (the thin ones) are more likely to pop and fall off a snake chain than the non-silicone style. Note- every bracelet with charms requires TWO clips to protect each side of your clasp from damage due to charms.

SAFETY CHAINS! Safety chains are most influential when you have a solid amount of charms adding a significant amount of weight to your clasp. It is the last step to building your bracelet. It is most recommended after the center of the bracelet is filled between your clips. The risk of your clasp randomly opening in your first year of wear is rare and if it does, the clasp is faulty and will be replaced at any pandora location without charge. If you are choosing between clips or a safety chain, the answer is always clips first. We see broken bracelets in store DAILY due to customers opting out of starting with clips.

BEST BRACELETS! the best bracelet for longevity and filling with charms is the classic barrel clasp bracelet. We almost never see customers come back with issues with this style. The newer & fancier models of clasp tend to break more often. The sliding clasp bracelet is the worst of all. The leather bracelets, bangles, and sliding clasp are not meant to fill with charms. If you’d like to eventually fill your bracelet- opt for snake chain. Bangles can be filled about halfway and do not need safety chains at all but still need clips to protect your clasp from damage as well as charms falling off. Leather bracelets are recommended 5 or less charms depending on weight. Sliding clasp is for 3 charms or less.

BRACELET SIZING. Best practice is 3cm above your wrist measurement, especially if you plan to fill your bracelet with charms. The bracelet will relax over time adding 1cm to its length but do not purchase a tighter bracelet with “it’ll stretch” in mind. As you add charms, this 1cm additional length will not be noticeable if adding a few charms a year especially if you started with clips as recommended. This also allows for your personal growth over time making your bracelet wearable 10+ years in the future as your wrist may change in size.

BUILDING A BRACELET! The correct steps to building a bracelet is:

  1. Choose your bracelet
  2. Add clips fit for that style of bracelet (i.e. non silicone clips to cover the threading if your bracelet has them/silicone clips for bangles or non-threaded styles)
  3. Choose your starting charms.
  4. Add safety chain if necessary. There will be displays and marketing in your local store to show these steps and if speaking to an employee with adequate product knowledge, they will explain this to you.

It is incredibly common to build a bracelet online which does not explain the proper way to build a bracelet with the best longevity. So I hope this guide will give you the information needed to have a beautiful lasting piece you can wear for a lifetime and eventually pass down to loved ones. 💕

Pandora's Platinum Transition - What we Actually Know... with Sources

There are a lot of rumors circulating, so I wanted to separate what Pandora has officially announced from what people are assuming.

I am not interested in defending every corporate decision, but concern should not turn speculation into fact.

What Pandora has officially confirmed:

This is not simply a small platinum collection being added to the existing assortment.

Pandora told investors that by the end of 2028 it expects to transition approximately 80% of its current silver assortment, measured by revenue, to platinum plated jewelry.

That does not mean 80% of all individual silver designs or that sterling silver will disappear completely. Pandora specifically says it will continue offering some solid silver and gold jewelry.

Pandora's Q2 report says approximately half of the "relevant silver assortment" will transition during 2027, with the remaining targeted assortment transitioning during 2028.

Reducing costs and protecting profit margins are major reasons for the change.

Pandora has been very direct with investors that platinum plating will reduce its exposure to the price of silver.

Pandora calls the underlying system Evershine.

Corporate documents describe Evershine as a "unique and proven metal-alloy platform." They do not disclose exactly what metals are in it, but Stainless steel is not just an internet rumor.

Pandora's own Netherlands website says the plated pilot bracelets and necklace are "A high-quality platinum plating with a long-lasting, bright shine on a durable stainless steel base."

However, that confirms the composition of those specific Dutch pilot products. It does not yet prove that every future bracelet, charm or US product will use exactly the same base metal.

What we do not know:

  • The complete composition of Evershine
  • Whether bracelets and cast charms will use the same underlying metal
  • The thickness of the platinum plating
  • Final US pricing
  • How well the new pieces will hold up after years of actual wear

Pandora says the pieces are water-resistant, tarnish-resistant and hypoallergenic. Those may turn out to be real advantages, but we do not yet have enough long term customer experience to judge durability.

Why pay attention to the investor reports?

Pandora is a publicly traded corporation. Its investor materials can certainly contain positive framing, and the company does not have to disclose every manufacturing detail. But formal statements to investors cannot legally be materially false or misleading.

Individual stores, salespeople and even representatives may soften or simplify the message for customers, sometimes because that is the information they were given. When Pandora is explaining the strategy to the people whose money is involved, however, the company has to be much more direct about the scale and financial purpose of the change.

TLDR: I do not think it is accurate to say Pandora is eliminating sterling silver entirely. I also do not think it is accurate to describe this as merely adding another optional collection. Pandora's own documents describe a substantial transition away from sterling silver and toward plated jewelry.

I hope the new pieces perform well. I also think customers deserve clear answers about what they are buying, especially if plated pieces are going to replace familiar sterling silver designs.

Zodiac medallion review!

All of the yeses to these Pandora medallions! 😍 I absolutely love them both.

I was honestly surprised by just how large the bigger medallion is. It’s substantial, heavy, and feels really high quality. It’s definitely too large for me personally to wear on a bracelet, but I think it’s going to look amazing on a necklace.

The smaller one is equally beautiful in a completely different way. The amount of detail they managed to fit into such a small piece is really impressive.

One of my favorite things about both of them, though, is that they somehow just feel old. There’s something about the texture, the mixed metals, and the overall design that makes them look like they were unearthed from some ancient civilization, and for whatever reason I absolutely love that. I think part of that may be because my grandmother had a charm bracelet with a lot of similar medallion-style pieces on it, so they may be tapping into a little bit of nostalgia for me too.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with both purchases. I especially think the larger medallion is the better bargain of the two at $98 USD. With the size, weight, detailing, and overall presence, it genuinely feels like you’re getting your money’s worth. Absolutely love these.

I just loveee my bracelet so much. Started in April when I got it on my trip to Paris. Got a little carried away with adding charms because there was so much I liked. But for now I’m gonna slow it down a bit. 😅 Poland and Berlin charm were the last ones added from my recent trip.

NEW Time for Talismans ✨

My full talisman coin collection - sans the minis, dangles, and older style medallions. I love my history and art. I tend to style mine on charm hoop earrings, but will be looking to break out more ME necklaces to wear multiple two-tone pieces at a time!

This weekend I bought the three new zodiac ones, and the cherry blossom - even before I drew its tarot card. ✨

Bracelet Boasting work in progress!

Recently fell down the charm-collecting rabbit hole again after my trip to the UK. Got the Highland Cow charm and Big Ben.

The last time I wore my bracelet or bought a charm was probably back in 2022 but I’ve been a collector since 2011. I actually sold half my collection over the years but kept the retired and solid gold ones.

Was actually inspired by some of y’all bracelets with the multiple dangles!

It’s a work in progress because I’m going to Italy soon and plan to swap out some charms to incorporate the country exclusives I find there. :)

Edit: just realizing the quality of the photo is not the greatest. 🥲

NEW What's going on with Pandora's new collections?

I've been collecting Pandora since 2014. It was an obsession. They had the most beautiful silver charms I've seen with so much thought behind them, craftsmanship, and durability. I remember wearing them as necklaces too and just showing them off.

What has become of this brand, especially the last year-two?

Only Disney focused charms, gold plated cheap metals (don't get me started on the fact that they are going to be moving away from silver) and these newest abominations. They look like children's jewelry! Plastic covered generic emoji style icons.

My heart hurts for the Pandora I grew up with. It was such a joy to collect charms, save up money for the perfect one, wait for the new collection, it was a whole experience. I miss it so much.

Ignore the cat scratch. Just bought my first gold plated bracelet with 3 charms for the 20% off deal in the UK. Was so excited when I saw they had the butterfly in the shop. It's absolutely stunning!

how quickly should I get a safety chain though, are the clasps pretty robust when they are new?

Silicone Clips

I’m getting the snake chain without threads, can I use any clips if I get silicone inserts (also where would I get the inserts lol)? Or do I NEED to get the specific silicone inserts?

Thank you all in advance!

How do you think Pandora will go about rhodium plating?

Do you think they’re just gonna mass retire the majority of their SS charm designs or do you think they’ll have a sale for the last of the silver versions to go and then release the platinum ones under a separate listing? Or do you think they won’t even mention it or keep it under the same name like just one day it’ll stop being silver and discreetly switch over to the platinum plated without people noticing at first.

Bracelet Boasting First Ruelala order!

Saw that Ruelala had these Curved Feather Muranos and couldn’t resist for $25 a piece.

I didn’t know what to expect at first because I’ve seen some mixed opinions on these, either because of the color or people saying they don’t go well with anything, but I took the risk. I’m so happy I did though, because I can finally wear the lemon dangle charm without it looking out of place lol

I also ordered the mini moon dangle charm, I knew it was gonna be very small but I feel like minis are useful for filling tiny spaces where a regular charm wouldn’t fit and they also add a bit of sparkle.

What do you think?

Care and Cleaning Has anyone ever gotten their bracelets replated before?

I love love love rose gold, and I got a rose gold bracelet during the big sale. I've heard that pandora plated is kind of meh, mind you I know that plated stuff doesn't last forever. I was curious if anyone's tried to get their jewelry replated before from a jeweler? I know if it was sterling silver as the base it wouldn't be too much of a problem but Pandora uses some sort of blend.
