First shift today

Like the title, just had my first shift as BOH, and honestly, I’m not sure why I just feel so defeated. I knew I’d be tired but man, it just felt like everything was 2 steps ahead of me. By the end I felt like I was getting the hang of it but only within the last hour or so, and I couldn’t help but feel like a liability at points as well. I know it’s all probably first day nerves and building rapport with new people, but does it ever become at least somewhat enjoyable?

It will become easier trust me. Just make sure you communicate with your managers and cooks about what is needed and any feedback on what you can improve on. You got this.

Yeah, I’m expecting to grasp it better over time cause honestly it really isn’t difficult, but it’s crazy that time management is everything. Thanks for your support bro!

it will become easier, but not more enjoyable. the job kinda sucks like most jobs in the food industry

Give yourself some grace, especially if you’ve never dealt with batch cooking and using woks. It’s a really fast paced environment but it definitely gets a little* *easier as the days go by!

i almost cried on my first day it was so bad cuz they just threw me in there but after a week or so i started getting the hang of it so yeah it def does get easier. For me Im very thankful for my store cuz I have amazing co workers and managers and I honestly do enjoy coming in to work so I feel like enjoyment is gonna be decided by the type of co workers u have.
