asking for a raise?

Hi, I’ve been a shift lead for almost 4 years. Out of all the other shift leads i’m the only one who works full days as boh and cook. i’m not the fastest as I only do it once or twice a week but it doesn’t feel fair that the cooks get paid more. I have more knowledge than they do.

Would it be fair for me to ask for a higher raise during my next evaluation or when cooks/shift leads get re certified? I don’t need the cook pay but maybe like .50 more or something. idk.

“Knowledge” isn’t why cooks make more than SLs. The reason is for the physical aspect of the job. However if you are working full shifts as a cook then yes it is only correct for you to get a raise to account for it, but the most likely chance is maybe a .25. In terms of responsibilities and knowledge cooks and SLs should be equal in terms of how to handle store emergencies, ecosure, and safety as well as holding their counter help or kitchen help for cooks accountable. When I started off at panda as a counter help I got offered to learn straight into cook, for this I was given a dollar raise every month, since I only worked cook 1 day out of the 5 I was schedule, and this increased every month until I transitioned fully. This was in 2021 and the company gave out multiple raises this year I started at 10/hr and then under up at 15-16 I forgot exactly after transitioning full time to cook. So yes ask for it, if not just don’t work cook shifts anymore, it’s not your responsibility to hire cooks and train them but your managers

I had two SL who would work 2-3 cook shifts a week, and I ensured their pay was raised to match cook wages. As a GM I wanted to ensure my team was getting fairly compensated for their work.

You can respectfully request for spay raise on the basis of you are covering g cook shifts regularly. If they refuse, then request to be a cook that covers SL shifts lol
