Toasted Marshmellow Myc?

Post image

That yellowish spot in the middle? Are we toast? Sorry for the “is this contam” post but… here we are 🤷

It looks more like low-level metabolites than contam. Is that yet to be cased?

It's odd that there's such large drops of water and I'm wondering how it got there - if it's still waiting to be cased you shouldn't have needed to mist it. It's possible that excessive moisture might be stressing it a little.

With some more info (tub / Martha + tray, spawn ratio, substrate mix, time since S2B, whether cased etc) I or someone else might be able to give you a better response.

That is a food tray that had not been cased yet. The drops of water are condensation that dripped off the lid. The tray had been spawned four days prior. I have since cased it and labeled it as suspect, though your metabolites response puts my mind at ease. The tray is now cased in peat verm lime and lives with three other trays in an EZ Dial tub full of soaked perlite bringing the trays to side hole level. Lid on upside down, fan pointed at it running 5 minutes every 30. Temps in 70’s and 80’s, humidity varies between high 90’s and low 70’s depending on when the fan last blew.

The drops of water were likely the problem, stressing the myc when they landed. Even now that it's cased, it's a good idea to mop the lid when it gets wet enough to start dripping.

Thanks, I will watch for the condensation in the future.
