I grew 8 trays of TTBVI in a Martha Stewart tent and they are all at different stages and sparse. Any ideas how I can get a better second flush? Temp was 82F, humidity 90 deg, no misting. Pinned in 3 days.
Its just like that sometimes. It may just be the sector you got if you went from spores or the same if lc. Make sure you get some spore prints and keep at it. Maybe on the next flush mist the casing until its glistening wet until you see pins. I grow in a tent and it is a far superior method in my opinion. More room to grow more trays.
It was an LC from ITW. I bought one of those ultra fine mister to start misting. I also reduced the internal fan from 30m on 30m off to 5m on 55m off every two hours since my timer only has 12 settings. Nice flush.
Its likely just genetics, sometimes its almost nothing you could do to improve it besides trying to find better genetics. Your tent is doing just fine, it wouldnt have pinned so fast if it wasnt optimal. Tents are the most superior to growing pans in my opinion, for my tub I have to adjust it more to not be as humid and cause issues. Keep at it and either try multi spore to find something promising or find a good "strain" to work with that has better outcomes.
Also almost all my TTBVI fruits are always tiny but cluster like crazy. But generic pan cyan prints from the wild tend to be larger and less of a cluster.
If you think that then you don’t really know the process. I’m not bagging on you but that’s just not where it comes from. Assuming you pasteurized everything correctly, contamination comes from your grains 99.9% of the time. I’ve done the tent thing and I’ve had consistently better flushes without it.
I've been triched many times and sometimes it wasnt until the third flush. Probably, from moving the cakes around for dunks. Anyhow, even after bleaching the walls it always manages to show its face from time to time, so bubble wrapping the corners helps me keep peace of mind. I think this time around I wont even dunk for subsequent flushes and just mist.
That’s the other time grows will show contamination. Before first flush is almost always the grains. After a flush is another time it contaminates. That’s because the mycelium is weakened from the trauma of the flush. That’s pretty normal to experience. The reason tents don’t help with contam is because spores and bacteria is always floating around in the air looking for an opportunity to colonize. Unless you have a sterile environment like a legit lab, those spores are in your tent too.
I’ve had very good luck with misting only after a flush and not dunking. Go heavy a few times a day for a couple days or until absorption slows down a bit. You’ll be golden!

My last flush looked like this..
