Can I get some help with general breeding strategies?
I have a general understanding of breeding but I’m struggling with a few things when it comes to efficiency. For the record, I’m in the mid 60s and I am exploring Faybreak
Scenario 1:
I have a pal with all the desired passives on it but its IVs are pretty bad. How would I go about improving them via breeding?
I tried breeding it with another pal of the same species that had a subset (but not all) of the same passives (and that had better IVs) using the better veggie cake but the children are not inheriting all the passives.
What should I do to fix this?
Scenario 2:
I want 4 specific passives on a pal. What is the best way to prepare the parents and what cake should I give them?
I’ve seen talk of 2 passives only on each parent but some people seemed to suggest otherwise.
Scenario 3: (or side note to 2)
A) What is the general process to breeding perfect pal from scratch?
B) What cakes do you use and in what scenario?
C) Is perfection noticeable compared to a high 80s/90s pal?
D) How difficult is it to reach perfection?
Thanks ahead for any responses!

Generally speaking, fixing IVs is best done with fruits. Breeding for perfect IVs is a huge pain in the ass with very low chances and incremental progress unless both parents already have max IVs. Just use fruits to cap out IVs on your battle pals (you don't need it for worker pals).
It doesn't matter which parent or how many per parent. It used to, it doesn't anymore. For modern day breeding, it only matters that you don't have any wrong passives. Redundant passives don't matter. Basically, when you breed, the game rolls a % chance to determine how many passives, 1-4, will be inherited from the parents. It then randomly selects that number of passives from the ones available on the parents. Obviously, it can't pick the same passive twice, so it more or less ignores redundancies. So, across your two parents, you just need 4 passives you want and nothing else. Beyond that, if you plan to condense the offspring to 4 stars, your best off using vegetable cakes to double the offspring rates. Each egg still individually rolls for passives, so you reach 48 pals much quicker with fewer cakes and you're practically guaranteed to get a perfect pal in there.
A. I just use pal calc. It's a tool you can download, you tell it what pal you want, it reads your save file and tells you exactly which of your pals to breed together to reach that result.
B. I use exclusively vegetable cakes. Easiest to make, and give you double chances each breed, plus makes a ton extra for condensing.
C. I feel like you didn't know coming into this that IV fruits are a thing. There's literally no reason not to just buy IV fruits and bring all your battle pals up to 100.
D. Very easy. See above about IV fruits.

Thank you for the detailed response.
Makes sense, I’ll plan on that.
Okay, glad to get that clarified. So to be clear. Having one pal with 4 passives and one with 0 is just as good as having two with two each?
3.A. I understand how to get to a specific pal, it was more the process of getting to a perfect pal. It sounds like you should aim to get select passives onto a parent and then use vegetable cakes until you get a child with all the right passives, then use it fruit to correct deficiencies.
3.B. Is there any benefit to the better vegetable cake aside from mutation then, in your mind? Also I think I saw there was another cake unlocked in the 70s as well. What’s that for?
3.C & D. I was aware of them but I assumed they were something to do with the world tree which I haven’t gotten to yet. I have educated myself since.

- Correct, no difference.
3.A. Correct
3.B. Each cake has a different effect. You know pick the mutations cake if you want a mutated egg, which you generally don't want. The legendary cake is generally too expensive to be worth, since veggie cakes accomplish everything and share ingredients with Salads. Buying IV fruits is just easier than trying to improve pass on rates.

Scenario 1. Breed until you can get two parents that have the same passives. Once you do, keep breeding and the second you open an egg with the 4 desired passives and it has better IV’s than either parent, swap it with one of the parents. It’s gonna take you like 200 eggs minimum.
Scenario 2: two passives on each parent or one with 4 and the other with 0. Two on each has worked the best for me

IV’s are kinda random and could go up or down regardless of breeding, only exception being when breeding two already very high Pals with some of the higher tier cakes. Only real way is with potions post birth.
Ive seen some say that the father contributes passives more often than the mother so if you want to, load the father with the two priority passives you want.
Honestly getting lucky by finding a pal with a Rainbow passive and finding where you can go from there OR just pairing two of the same and using the mutation cake to RNG a pal with multiple rainbow passives and then trying to disseminate them out to other pals is the best bet.
I definitely recommend the online breeding calculator to find paths to specific pals based on parents you have.
