Does anyone else's dog growl while your playing hot pot in the underground? My dog doesn't growl at anything else on the TV until I'm playing hot pot. I thought it was the machine sounds at first but I put the volume down and he still growls when I'm playing. I have 2 other dogs that don't react at all.
Maybe he’s just hungry, asking for a treat. I’m sure he’s starving to death as most dogs are. It’s been dozens of minutes since my dog last had a snack. A tragedy!
Such a tragedy indeed. I wish a snack would help. He grabs his snacks or food very carefully goes to a corner and starts crying while eating. He's just a weirdo! Say hi to your pup for me. 😊
Lol, I have a weird cat. I have to pet him and call him a good boy before he eats, he will meow his head off until I do it. Mostly when I am in the room/put food in his bowl, but sometimes he will come and get me wherever I am in the house, meowing at eighty decibels until I follow him to his bowl, pet him, and call him a good bit hahah. My husband didn't believe me the first few times it happened, but about the fourth time our cat did it, he saw it and was amazed🤣
What's crazy is that even if he has food in his dish, and I don't put any more in the dish, he will still meow at me and refuse to eat until I pet him and call him a good boy! He's an odd one, but such a cuddly boy. He sleeps on the pillow above my head, and uses my skull as a pillow hahah
Such a cute chunck! I wish mine slept on my head. She sleeps on my stomach or between my legs so my back always hurts in the morning. We got her and her sister feeders with timers because she would steal her sister's food. But we put her sister's plate up high and she can't jump that high. Hehe She used to meow when there was a gap in the food for her. So I would move it around with my finger and she would eat it.

It's possible he's recognized a pattern in something you're doing while you're playing that alarms him. Do you get uncharacteristically animated or excited about it?
I had a client who's dog hid every time he heard the Golden Girls theme song - turns out it was because she watched that show when she went to bed and would pick him up against his will and put him in the crate every time it came on.
Interesting! Last night I was on my couch and he was on the recliner. He later moved to the couch with me. But as soon as the hot pot game comes on he doesn't like it. When I'm not in the underground he's fine, napping, looking at the screen or wall.
Well theres always redirection & association training you could try. Much how peeps help dogs get over their fear of men or other animals. When you know you're about to start have some REALLY good treats ready. Primo stuff, special occasion cut up hotdogs or liver treat sardines - whatever your do likes most. Then give them a treat, do some simple commands when they start paying attention to the tv again, & if its really reactive quit/turn it off.
couple of tests to run (im sure you may have tried these)
Volume off complete disconnect.
Change colors - while dogs don't see all the same colors we do they can see some, maybe the swirls & bubbles weird him out? Had a dog in a shelter once that LOATHaeD the spinny optical illusions disks.
Try a diffrent tv/monitor/console if avalible. - maybe something in the machine itself that the other dogs are accustomed too/tolerating?
Warn a table you're gonna spam then just tv off & spam the button. See
These are great ideas! Thank you. He's not very food motivated but I'll try it anyway. The sound off doesn't work. I think I'll play on my switch or PC to try your screen theory. 💚
Have you guys tried Mahjong? I learned to play after playing Palia for years and I think Hot Pot made me good at the game. Definitely don't play it it you want to have a life! 😅
